About the Role:
We are seeking an outstanding Director of Quality Control to lead the 10x Quality Control Team. In this role, you will lead Quality Control function for 10x Genomics.
There are multiple aspects of this function including ensuring world class operations of the Quality Control department in multiple sites through capacity planning, hiring and process management, QC strategy to ensure high quality incoming materials get routed into inventory, effective intermediate testing, and effective finished good testing that support customer expectations.
Other requirements are new technology introduction, methods development and capability, new product transfer, tech transfer to other sites and vendors, SPC and other statistical analysis, and effective MRB processes.
The ideal candidate will have a deep technical foundation in analytical chemistry and life sciences, and proven relevant industrial experience managing the stated requirements.
What you will be doing:
- Leading a Quality Control function for 10x Genomics
- Establishing and sustaining a QC strategy for incoming materials, intermediates and finished good that are aligned with operational and customer requirements
- Manage capacity and capabilities to meet QC demands and technical complexities
- Drive continuous improvements in QC efficiencies, effectiveness, methods development and method capabilities
- Implementation of statistical analysis on results, specs, correlations, capabilities
- Tech transfer to other teams locally and globally, and with suppliers
- Enable fast time to market by partnering with the product development teams and pulling in capabilities and assisting product development
- Hire the best-in-class team to cover a broad range of competencies
- Business management and planning will include budgeting for people, capital, facilities, as well as quarterly reporting, and strategic planning on future capabilities
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Analytical or Organic Chemistry or a related field; M.S. or B.S. with equivalent technical experience to Ph.D. is acceptable
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in the life sciences, preferably with NGS knowledge
- Must possess comprehensive technical knowledge in analytical methods including chromatography, spectroscopy, imaging and metrology. Additional knowledge in molecular biology methods of enzyme activity, sequencing, conjugation, fluorescent hybridization, and DNA sequencing chemistries are beneficial
- Minimum of five years managing an effective QC team
- Experience working within a quality standard such as GMP, ISO9001 or ISO13485
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, teamwork and a passion to develop leading edge products and capabilities
