Senior Financial Analyst, Commercial FP&A Sales Reporting & Analytics

As a Senior Financial Analyst, the candidate will be part of a growing organization that is responsible for end-to-end reporting, analysis, and insights for Commercial FP&A focused on reporting for Bookings, Invoices, Revenue, and Royalty data. The candidate will leverage analytical skills to maintain and support all the Commercial Sales Finance reporting needs of the organization. The candidate will also assist in projects such as implementation of reporting metrics, dashboards, modeling, forecasting, and business intelligence solutions. This role will have the opportunity to showcase reporting and analytical capabilities while providing actionable insights to management and the executive leadership team.  This individual will ensure high levels of data quality, integrity, and validity. The role is responsible for creating report documentation, completing data management responsibilities, and producing various reporting and analytic solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of various business concepts including the sales cycle (ex: lead to quote, quote to order, order to cash) and underlying financial processes (ex: fundamentals of general accounting, financial statement reporting, Revenue recognition, Royalties, accruals, planning, modeling, budgeting, and forecasting).  The candidate will be a quick learner who will gain in-depth knowledge necessary to become an expert in the underlying sales data and is comfortable working with large sets of data.

The ideal candidate must be an effective communicator who is comfortable juggling multiple tasks and be proficient working productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, while maintaining a great attitude. This role will provide the ability to excel in cross-functional collaboration working with IT/Productivity Engineering, Business Intelligence, Legal, FP&A, and Accounting teams.  The candidate must possess a high degree of integrity, while consistently driving to get things done with the highest level of accuracy. The desire to learn, constantly improve, and deliver consistent results is paramount.  Upon hiring, the candidate’s initial focus is to learn and adapt to existing processes, and eventually identify opportunities to automate and streamline processes.

 

About the Role:

Perform month-end and quarter-end responsibilities focusing on Bookings, Invoice, Revenue, and Royalty data. 

Key month-end responsibilities include reconciliations of data and metrics between multiple systems, calculating and preparing Royalty accrual journal entries. 

Coordinate and prepare monthly and quarterly Royalty accrual journal entries ensuring calculations are aligned per contracts and follow processes and procedures for timely payment and reporting required under executed Royalty deals working closely with the Legal team and ensuring all Accounting processes comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Assist with Actuals vs Plan/Forecast variance analysis during month-end close for Revenue and Royalties per Income Statement and Balance Sheet reviews.

Generate slides for Quarterly Business Reviews and Board of Directors meetings.

Prepare external reporting metrics for 10Q/10K and Earnings Release disclosures.

Develop and maintain standardized reports and data sources to monitor overall sales performance, data integrity, and other key objectives and performance indicators.

Produce daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports using Oracle, Tableau, Salesforce.com, Microsoft Excel, and other business reporting tools.

Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of reports.

Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent reporting standards and processes are met per Commercial FP&A guidelines.

Help manage reporting within Oracle ERP system and data warehouse which entails testing of reports and raw data to identify underlying issues in management reporting, working closely with the IT/Productivity Engineering team.

Continuously audit all reporting systems (Oracle, RevPro, Tableau, Anaplan, Salesforce) to ensure consistency in data.

Support day-to-day reporting requests and ad-hoc analysis from across the organization.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

BS / BA Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience (MBA is a plus).

5 years of experience in Finance, which includes 3 or more years performing month-end/quarter-end close processes and data analysis.

Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as internal controls/Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Proven track record in business partner or corporate FP&A role.

Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required.

Experience in data management and reporting, preferably supporting FP&A.

Strong verbal and written communications skills required.

Excellent analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills required.

Ability to synthesize various independently generated data points into a cohesive analysis.

Demonstrated success working in a deadline driven and multi-task, fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail with the ability to work independently and balance workload effectively.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry and multinational organization is a plus.

Data science skills and experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Alteryx, ML, R, etc.) is a plus.
