About the Role:

10x Genomics, Inc. is looking for a Dangerous Goods Compliance, Staff Analyst position that will support the Global Trade Compliance team as a subject matter expert on dangerous goods/hazardous materials regulations in our various regions around the globe (EMEA, AMR and APAC). Specific functions will include providing technical expertise and guidance to assure the safe and compliant transportation of regulated materials for 10x’s global supply chain. The position will be responsible for assessing classification of dangerous goods and determine packaging and transport restrictions as well as working with cross functional teams to develop compliant solutions that fulfill business needs.

 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provides guidance and expertise to the organization regarding dangerous goods/ hazardous materials for 10x globally.
  • Ensures the implementation, co-ordination and consistent compliance practices on a global basis for hazardous materials/dangerous goods, as it relates to the following regulations: Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling (GHS), HCS2012, Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 CLP, USDOT, IATA, IMDG, RID/ADR, IMO, TSCA, DSL, EU and UK REACH, Regulation (EC) 1907/2006.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to implement DG policies, Standard Operating Procedures, training materials, and controls to support a culture of compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Authors safety data sheets (SDSs) compliant with UK/EU Reach
  • Works with Logistics to provide regulatory guidance on packaging specifications, marking, labeling, and shipping documents to support day-to-day DG operation.
  • Prepares chemical hazard labels for domestic and international shipments, and assist in the preparation of annual chemical reporting, such as UDOCS, Tier II and TRI.
  • Conducts periodic site audits of 10x facilities to evaluate compliance with applicable dangerous goods regulations.
  • Prepares written reports identifying compliance risks and assists facilities in identifying corrective actions.
  • Completes follow-up verifications to ensure that all actions have been completed appropriately.
  • Creates targeted training content based on compliance audit findings and delayed shipment records.
  • Provides instructor-led training, both web-based and in-person, as needed.
  • Tracks training, rejected shipments, audit findings, and other data points to identify improvement and efficiency opportunities.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Toxicology, Industrial Hygiene, EHS, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in: authoring/composing safety data sheets (SDS) in safety/environmental; chemicals and dangerous goods transportation classification; identification, documentation, marking and labeling, and packaging compliance.
  • Working knowledge of the following global regulations and associated agencies: Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling (GHS), HCS2012, Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 CLP, USDOT, IATA, IMDG, RID/ADR, IMO, TSCA, DSL, EU and UK REACH, Regulation (EC) 1907/2006.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret jurisdictional chemical regulations is required
  • Experience working with computer databases.
  • Regulatory compliance audit experience, including experience in preparing written reports and communicating compliance risks to stakeholders.
  • Chemistry knowledge and ability to apply that knowledge to hazardous material classifications.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Discretion with confidential or sensitive information.
  • Capable of multitasking and working with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to execute the day-to-day activities effectively and independently with minimal supervision with strong communication (verbal and written) and time management skills.

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working on an EHS/Regulatory team for a chemical manufacturing company.
  • One of the following professional certificates: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Hazardous Materials Professional (CHMP), Certified Dangerous Goods Professional (CDGP) or Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) preferred.
