About the role
Software is at the core of our products, enabling scientists to analyze and interpret biological data. We're seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead software development of the core platform, which spans across our instrument product suite and cloud software. You will guide the engineering teams on a broad variety of technical challenges, such as data infrastructure, system bring up and build, software update support, telemetry egress and analysis, and cloud connectivity.
This position is ideal for someone who loves working on complex software, infrastructure and data products, and is excited at the opportunity to build well-designed products that enable scientific discovery. A biology background is not required, as long as you have curiosity to learn about science!

What this role entails
- Identify and articulate customer and internal stakeholder needs through user interviews
- Translate user needs into software requirements and lead the team in building solutions
- Contribute to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy
- Manage the team using agile development processes, and plan out timelines and release plans
- Ensure requirements are fully understood by the development team and that implementation plans match expectations. Partner with QA in success criteria definition and test plan review
- Define meaningful product metrics; find and analyze the data to drive decision making on priorities
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or another technical field
- 3+ years of product management experience or 1+ years of product management experience with 2+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage competing priorities, balance short term and long term trade-offs, and efficiently meet timelines
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data, including writing SQL
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in software engineering or systems architecture
- Prior experience in data infrastructure or software infrastructure either as a product manager or software engineer
- Prior experience in systems architecture and design
- Prior experience coding in C, C++, Go, Python
- Familiarity with one or more of the following technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres, Kinesis, QuickSight, Sumo Logic, Envoy, Cloudflare
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to understand and empathize with customers and internal stakeholders
