We are looking for an experienced BigData QA/Testing Manager, reporting directly to Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics.

Position Overview

Looking for a BigData Test Manager to lead the team of junior and senior testers to streamline and automate the current QA ecosystem. Following is what is expected of the right candidate:

  • Development and execution of both manual and automated test scripts to perform functional and non-functional testing in a big data ecosystem.
  • Performance of regression and database testing in a big data ecosystem. High proficiency working with the Hadoop framework for data ingestion, movement, development, etc.
  • Prior experience working in DevOps environment leveraging Agile tools (i.e. Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, BitBucket)
  • Experience working in BigData and Datawarehouse projects
  • Experience in implementing automation around the test cases related to BigData / Datawarehousing / REST APIs based applications
  • Experience with RDBMS like Oracle/MySQL and NoSQL like HBase/DynamoDB and text search databases like Solr/ElasticSearch
  • Experience testing visualizations/reports with BI tools like Tableau
  • Experience with REST API testing and automation
  • Prior experience with performance testing with BigData applications
  • Experience working with cross-functional technical teams. The ideal candidate will possess technology and real estate business background that enables them to engage at multiple levels of the organization
  • Ideal candidate must have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to perform hands-on testing execution

 

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Develop, update, and maintain testing standards and procedures
  • Validate product fixes. Inform the test lead of any issues that may affect the schedule, budget, or quality of the product or the testing process
  • Conduct proof-of-concept projects to validate new feature sets and 3rd party technologies
  • Record problems and issues that arise out of testing process and working with the application team to resolve
  • Develop & execute test scripts, test conditions, input test data, and expected results for one or more test plans, including component, assembly, application and integration product, performance, user acceptance and technical architecture tests
  • Participate in the release control process (when the application is transferred from the build team to the test team) to ensure that solutions meet business requirements.
  • Analyze technology industry and market trends and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.
  • Build & maintain credibility/trust when exposed to executive and senior level management and business partners.
  • Creates Test Plan and facilitates creation of test cases.
  • Ensures testability of requirements and test coverage.
  • Coordinates the development of the test scoping document to be used for the construction of the environments.
  • Defines critical test areas for system testing and reviews risk assessments.
  • Develops and manages testing schedule, and reports on testing statuses and results to project teams and leadership.
  • Inspects project artifacts and reports on compliance
  • Leads the test efforts to ensure proper operation, defect analysis, and freedom from defects.
  • Coordinates activities with Project Manager and Core project team.
  • Understand the complexities around data security and ability to certify code by following all industry standards
  • Maintains knowledge of all relevant compliance and regulatory mandates and ensures that all activities are in compliance with these requirements.
  • Communicates with project core team, and immediate supervisor and escalates to senior IT and business leadership as appropriate.
  • Mentors less experienced staff in specific business knowledge areas or quality management techniques.

 

WHAT ABOUT YOU? You have…

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience of managing a team of junior and senior testers
  • 3+ years of experience with BigData hadoop platforms like Cloudera/HortonWorks
  • 5+ years of experience with Quality Assurance in a Big Data & Data Warehouse testing environment
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile tools such as Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, BitBucket
  • 1+ years’ experience with Amazon Kinesis, AWS Lambda, Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS), Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS), Redshift, S3, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway
  • 5+ years of experience working in a DevOps model as a QA tester
  • 1+ years of experience of testing microservices/REST API’s
  • 2+ years of experience with RDBMS like Oracle/MySQL and NoSQL like HBase/DynamoDB and text search databases like Solr/ElasticSearch
  • 1+ years of experience testing visualizations/reports with BI tools like Tableau
  • Ability to translate business needs into high level test designs and user acceptance testing requirements
  • Leads the test efforts to ensure proper operation, defect analysis, and freedom from defects
  • Ability to coordinates testing activities across multiple and complex projects
  • Ability to apply multiple open source technical solutions to business problems
  • Articulate and effective communicator and presenter, able to describe complex problems and solutions in simple or understandable terms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Cloudera CDH is highly desired
  • Knowledge of AWS environments leveraging Redshift, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, etc. is highly desired
  • Knowledge of Snowflake is preferred
  • Knowledge on REST API testing frameworks is preferred
  • General knowledge of how data science tools such as R Studio, Anaconda, H2O, Tableau leverage data throughout the big data ecosystem is highly desired
  • Flexibility and durability in an ever-changing environment: always looking for ways to improve the process and ability to confront difficult circumstances in creative ways
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate complex solutions in unassuming terms
  • Strong understanding of United States real estate / mortgage data attributes and best practices required
