Meet the team:

The Payroll Associate will work closely on a daily basis with the People Operations Manager, the Payroll Manager and the People Operations team in general to accurately enroll new hires in payroll, prepare the payroll runs, configure and update tax settings and data, and ensure the general accuracy and quality of payroll data.  He or she will also work with employees to support payroll and retirement elections, as well as other related aspects of human resource management. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Monitor, validate, and assist employees in completing new hire payroll data in Workday including direct deposit, Federal, state and local tax, pay rates and time and attendance
  • Audit payroll data in Workday on a schedule for all new hires before first payroll and ongoing existing employee changes monthly
  • Create and/or review paydata batches for routine salary payments, hourly wage payments, and employee special payments/advances/reimbursements
  • Process and settle payroll
  • Calculate and send on-demand payments
  • Create and/or review special payment batches
  • Utilize and/or supervise Workday reporting to download, store and organize regular payroll reports
  • Serve as a contact for employees for Workday and Vanguard/Ascensus changes, pay stub access, quality of time system data and general payroll questions
  • Provide 401(K) support for new hires, data changes, employee elections, contributions, loans and goals
  • Provide insurance and benefits support by auditing worker’s compensation coding, reconciling insurance deductions and premiums, and ensuring correct employee classifications
  • Ensure tax compliance- request, store, track, reconcile all local, state and federal payroll tax filings
  • Conduct weekly new hire payroll orientation meetings
  • Review and validate all tax calculations and create EIBs to make corrections and updates
  • Create and maintain payroll procedures and documentation
  • Prepare and audit data for separate managed payroll service in the E.U.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Must have Workday payroll experience; Workday certification preferred
  • Extensive experience with payroll taxes across the U.S.; E.U. tax experience a bonus
  • Experience with 401(K) plan support
  • At least 5 years of work experience and 2 years in payroll
  • Experience in a technology-based company such as software or robotics preferred
  • Understanding of ‘closed-loop’ workflow processes and comprehensive documentation
  • Mid-level proficiency in Excel
  • Comfortable with basic accounting concepts and practices as they relate to payroll
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work “without a net” and self-teach or find resources to learn
  • Thrives in fast-paced work environment
  • Enjoys learning and new challenges
  • Able to prioritize workload and triage competing priorities
  • Ability to self-assess limits and and seek guidance when needed
  • Ability to self-direct when blocked and be productive on one’s own
