Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team, along with our current staff, will temporarily work from home until it is safe to return to our offices.

Do you live and breathe the user experience? Do you love solving tough problems, and thrive on variety? Atlassian is currently seeking Design interns to join our growing Design team in Sydney.

Join Atlassian as an intern and spend your summer with us having a direct impact on how millions of users collaborate and use software. The most amazing thinkers—like NASA rocket scientists and Tesla engineers—are coming to us for solutions. We’re in the business of developing software to help teams everywhere get amazing ideas on the ground and into the world. Sound like an exciting place to start your career? Here you'll be encouraged to use your imagination and try new things.

Please include a link to your portfolio when submitting your application. Pro tip: When you submit your portfolio, it really helps to share in each case study a little bit about the problem you’re trying to solve, the process you followed and why, and some of the reasoning behind your design decisions. This will help the team get to know more about how you work as a designer!

Applicants must have Australian citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency or NZ citizenship at time of application.

On your first day, we'll expect the following;

  • Commitment to a 12 week full-time (38hrs / week) internship from late November 2020 until late February 2021 (We may be able to flex on this slightly if your course timetable does not allow for a 12 week placement during this timeframe).
  • Be currently enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program and graduating by January 2022.
  • Passion for user-focused design
  • Ability to plan effectively while juggling multiple simultaneous projects
  • Passion for collaborating with cross-functional team members, like engineers and product managers, as well as other designers
  • More about our team

    You’ll be joining a team that is smart and very direct. We challenge each other constantly to improve our work, learn, and ask hard questions. We're dedicated to agile methodology and are big believers in ‘lean’ (which means we don’t do documentation for documentation's sake). We know the importance of validating assumptions about users and use various types of testing to figure out whether we're right (or wrong). Our bottom line is improving our user’s experience—no matter what.
