Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team, along with our current staff, will temporarily work from home until it is safe to return to our offices.

Do you live and breathe security? Want to battle villains every day? Need to work on meaningful problems, your way?

We're expanding our security capability and looking for graduates to help us. Does hacking our products and their code sound like your thing? As a new graduate in our security team, you'll be watching over our corporate environment and Atlassian cloud services which host many tens of thousands of customers. Using your skills and experience in various languages and tech stacks you will discover and fix security vulnerabilities within Atlassian products and services, hone your pen testing and Red Team skills by analyzing those, participate in architecture and code reviews, threat modeling, and work closely with all the Atlassian engineering groups.

We would love for you to have strong coding skills but more importantly, you must be forward-thinking, motivated and have a passion for web app security. You should be comfortable writing code to get things done and not depend on third party products to do your job.

You love to innovate and to build your dreams. Ambitious and driven, you are excited about the opportunity to work with our teams on complex challenges. You’re a great team player, inquisitive and enjoy dissecting and tackling hard problems (the more challenging the better). You have an interest in technology and think it has the power to change the world for the better. Whilst passionate about your work and delivering amazing quality, you’re still able to go fast, which means great instincts when it comes to the workload and using your time wisely. You’ll learn a lot, but you’ll also need to be able to stand up for your own ideas when the time comes.

One important note: Applicants must have Australian citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency or NZ citizenship at time of application.

On your first day you’ll expect to have:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science / Software Engineering or a related technical field and graduating by January 2021
  • Great skills writing clean, efficient code
  • Deep understanding of data structures, in particular how they are implemented and how to apply them to solve problems
  • Familiarity with the application of common design patterns
  • Real passion for collaborating with colleagues to build technical solutions to hard problems
  • You view capture the flag competitions, crack-mes, and "unbreakable" products as challenges to your honor, hacking at them until they yield.
  • It's great, but not required if you have:

  • A real passion for Security Engineering or Security Intelligence, as demonstrated by previous internships, work experience, projects, or publications
  • A consistent track record in finding vulnerabilities, responsible disclosure or bug bounties that would be a great plus
  • More about our teams

    Security Intelligence
We want diverse skill sets and people, so we can all learn from each other and do interesting things. We don't just click the same buttons over and over. You will be working along with the product security team - a group dedicated to improving the security of our products and engineering practices. We work both independently and in collaboration with development teams as we assess and respond to security issues that might occur with new products and features.

    Corporate Security
We are a focused group committed to protecting the security of our customers and their data. We value diverse thinking and creativity, so we can all learn from each other and do interesting things. You will be working with the whole security team to improve our cyber security posture.

    Product Security
The Product Security team is responsible for making sure Atlassian products and services are safe. We are looking for engineers who thrive on working with development teams to secure their products across the software development lifecycle. Some of our responsibilities include source code auditing, writing automation, running Atlassian's bug bounty, building defenses directly into products, and finding ways to empower engineering teams to build secure products by default. Because we work directly on products and write most of our own tools, the ability to code is crucial.
