Job Description

Do you love staying ahead of the growth curve and experimenting with new technologies and environments? Get on board as an Atlassian Network Engineer!
As an member of our Core Network and Automation team, you’ll build solutions to enhance the availability, performance and stability of Atlassian’s core network services. You’ll be exploring and deciding on new technologies, implement proof of concepts and be involved in key production projects. You’ll design, build and support solutions to solve a variety of gnarly technical problems, across a global network.
Atlassian already has strong PaaS and IaaS platforms and we are looking to bring more network integration and automation to unleash Atlassian teams and customers to get sh!t done.
If you have great creative problem solving skills, grok YBIYRI and have a real passion for team work then come and help us build solutions that operate at large scale and be empowered to improve Atlassian products to truly deliver a reliable and seamless experience to all Atlassian developers and customers.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Hands-on experience in one or more of Python, bash, Lua, Golang or similar
  • Excellent IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols
  • Experience building, automating, and maintaining infrastructure in AWS such as VPC, Direct Connect and connectivity using BGP & IPSEC
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve issues in high-throughput web applications and network services
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of Ansible, Terraform or Cloud Formations
  • Experience operating production network services at scale
  • We'd be super excited if you have:

  • Experience working with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
  • Experience working with Docker or Kubernetes
  • Experience monitoring cloud services with SignalFx, Splunk and other monitoring systems
  • Experience managing firewalls, routers and switches

    The Core Network & Automation team is responsible for developing and operating the Atlassian network, to high levels of reliability and at large scale. Our mission is to ensure Atlassian’s network services are available, scalable and engineered to meet the ever increasing demand for functionality and speed.
    The team currently covers all the aspects around network design, engineering, implementation, operations and network tools/automation development & system administration.
