We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in the Sydney timezone to bring more network integration and automation to unleash Atlassian teams and customers, to get sh!t done. You'll be part of a growing team, crafting our next generation of infrastructure and delivering value to our customers through creative improvements to our product. You'll be at the helm to build an effective team, empowering them to achieve their goals, and putting those goals into broader context. Your greatest responsibility will be looking after the individuals reporting to you, mentoring and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Significant experience with building large scale systems using cloud providers 
  • Experience leading a development, infrastructure or platform team
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
  • Ability to drive technical excellence, pushing innovation and quality 
  • Strong organizational, contribution, and project management skills
  • Operational maturity with teams responsible for running mission-critical production services
  • Strong customer empathy
  • Be able to drive team innovation through robust technical sparring sessions
  • Experience in the following is preferred:

  • Employee performance and growth management
  • Large scale distributed systems 
  • Building and running cloud-provider-based infrastructure
  • Microservices
  • Python development
  • Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery
  • Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks such as CloudFormation or Terraform 
  • Networking: IP, TCP, HTTP, DNS, Proxy technologies
  • AWS building blocks such as VPC and TGW
  • Product management practices

    The Core Network & Automation team's remit is developing and operating the Atlassian network, to high levels of reliability and at large scale. Our mission is to ensure Atlassian’s network services are available, scalable and engineered to meet the ever growing demand for functionality and speed.
    The team currently covers all the aspects around network design, engineering, implementation, operations and network tools/automation development & system administration.
