Atlassian is continuing to hire for all open roles with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team, along with our current staff, will temporarily work from home until it is safe to return to our offices.

Get a kick out of working with data at scale and providing solutions for others? We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers on our Observability team in Sydney. We are responsible for managing the services that power real-time monitoring, logging, tracing and alerting for teams at Atlassian.

By providing ongoing education for engineers, and by building visibility tools and systems, we enable teams to evolve their monitoring as their services change. Our work helps to ensure a reliable and consistent user experience by allowing teams to understand how their products and services are performing on a global scale around the clock.

You'll work closely with our design and product management teams to influence the direction of the product and plan the steps to get there. You'll be responsible for building effective teams, empowering them to achieve their goals, and putting those goals into broader context. Your greatest responsibility will be looking after the individuals reporting to you, coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Significant experience with building large scale web software
  • Experience leading a development team in (at least) a technical capacity
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
  • Ability to drive technical excellence, pushing innovation and quality
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in the following is preferred:

  • Employee performance & growth management
  • Experience with large scale distributed systems
  • Experience with microservices
  • Continuous delivery
  • AWS

  • More about our benefits

Whether you work in an office or a distributed team, Atlassian is highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some fantastic perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, flexible working options, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, an annual allowance to support your learning & growth, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and lots more.
