This job is no longer active

Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. All new and existing Atlassians will continue to work from home until it’s safe to return to our offices. When our offices re-open, we will provide the choice to work from home or return to work in an office unless a job requirement makes it necessary for a particular role to be performed at an Atlassian office.

Are you a Java expert that loves improving the way developers create, deploy and operate cloud software? If so, this role is perfect for you!
The goal of this team is to reduce the time our product developers spend solving common problems, and instead allow them to focus on building solutions for their own problem domains. To achieve this, we’re crafting a tech stack of the next generation of tools, frameworks, and libraries that improve the efficiency of the entire Cloud Engineering organisation, making it easier to create, build, test and release high quality microservices.
If you take pride in levelling up your developer peers, this is the role for you!

On your first day, we'd love for you to have:
- Expertise in using Java to build developer tooling, libraries and cloud services
- Eagerness to research & learn new technologies
- Understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed systems
- Experience writing performant, decoupled, testable, maintainable code
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

It's great, but not required, if you have:
- Hands on experience with public cloud offerings (e.g., EC2, CloudFormation, IAM, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, or equivalents)
- Knowledge of containerisation and containerisation orchestration technologies (e.g.,Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos)
- Knowledge of open source libraries and frameworks for creating services (e.g. Spring Boot, WebFlux, Resilience4j, JUnit, Mockito)

More about our benefits

Whether you work in an office or a distributed team, Atlassian is highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some fantastic perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, flexible working options, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, an annual allowance to support your learning & growth, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and lots more.
