Our Boyertown Hospice Team is currently seeking an experienced Music Therapist for a Per Diem opportunity performing visits for our hospice patients. This office services clients in territories throughout Berks, Lehigh, Northampton and Montgomery County areas. Travel is required. 

As a Hospice Music Therapist, you will be a contributing member of a multi-disciplinary health care team that provides palliative & hospice care to patients at the comfort of their own home.

Responsibilities for a Music Therapist include:

  • Make home visits to clients in designated geographic territories.
  • Assess emotional factors related to terminal illness. 
  • Participate in the development and revision of the plan of care.
    • Provide music therapy services that include:
      a. 1:1 individual sessions in homes/facilities/hospitals
      b. Caregiver support and assessing caregiver needs
      c. Pre-bereavement and bereavement support
      d. Assist in private/facility/agency memorial services
      e. Collaborating with IDG to support emotional/spiritual/physical/mental and psycho social needs
      of patients to ensure the highest quality of life.
      f. Provide education on music therapy to patients/family members/staff/and the community
  • Identify family dynamics and communication patterns.  
  • Identify and discover potential opportunities for legacy projects.
  • Evaluate client/family response to therapeutic interventions.
  • Assess special needs related to cultural diversity including communication, space, role, of family
    members and special traditions.
  • Address client/family questions and concerns.
  • Determine interventions and goals based on patient/family assessment of needs.
  • Understand and follow safety and infection control policies and procedures.

Qualifications for a Music Therapist include:

  • Be board certified in Music Therapy.
  • Have graduated with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy.
  • Successfully completed a minimum of 1200 hours of supervised clinical work through pre-internship training at AMTA degree program, and internship training through AMTA-approved national roster or university affiliated internship
    programs or an equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of one year experience in music therapy, preferably in hospice and palliative care.
  • Demonstrate record of strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Solid computer skills; prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
