In this role, you will be directly responsible for growing our organic search performance across multiple search engines. As single-threaded leader of the channel, you will manage a team of technical channel experts, own the channel roadmap, and partner with Product and Tech capabilities to deliver against roadmap needs. You will be accountable for quantifiable objectives focused on organic search visibility, traffic and new customer acquisitions and so a data-driven mentality is critical.

You will prioritize the most scalable opportunities and site optimizations. Leveraging your deep understanding of major search engine algorithm updates, and a combination of on-site and technical optimizations, you will develop the Organic search channel as a complementary, integrated, and critical component of the total site and new customer acquisition channel portfolio. In this role, you will partner with other Chewy leaders to ensure our product, content and engineering roadmaps align with our SEO strategy and audience growth goals. You must learn quickly, move fast, quickly run and analyze experiments, and make decisions prioritized by business impact. You will need the right balance of marketing and technology experience, as well as business judgment and technical aptitude.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop, manage, and evolve our SEO strategy, roadmap & vision to meaningfully grow our audience
  • Work across the organization to develop working relationships with all product and engineering teams evangelizing and ensuring that Chewy builds and maintains an SEO-first platform
  • Own responsibility for developing SEO product and technical priorities, working with our content product team to prioritize the product roadmap and balance organic growth with user experience
  • Own growth and strategy for the organic search channel and owned channel content across web properties
  • Assume ownership of key performance metrics and reports to measure successes and opportunities
  • Conduct keyword research and provide recommendations for content creation across owned properties
  • Develop best practices for on-site and technical enhancements and work with the product and tech teams to make sure all new pages comply with SEO best practices
  • Manage efficiency and optimization of page titles, tags, descriptions etc. and make sure they are optimized for proper keyword focus and provide content to match search intent.
  • Create and oversee a link generation program to improve rankings
  • Responsible for the management and submission of the sitemaps
  • Conduct site audits and competitive analysis to proactively discover areas of opportunity
  • Monitor and improve rankings across top keywords
  • Be the thought leader on search technology and search industry changes, gaining a deep knowledge of desktop, mobile and social search

What You’ll Need:

  • 10+ years of hands-on SEO experience and understanding of ranking factors, algorithms and core SEO principals
  • Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, and Javascript for SEO purposes as well as site and network architectures
  • Experience working with engineers and driving technical implementations for SEO purposes
  • Obsessively organized and detail oriented
  • Strong leadership and communications skills (written and oral) with specific examples
  • Self-directed and effective working independently, yet equally comfortable contributing in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, statistics, economics, mathematics, computer science or related field
  • Advanced in Google Analytics, Brightedge, Moz, and other search monitoring tools
  • Advanced Excel user, ability to create dashboards that drive decisions, and tell stories with data
  • Position may require travel
