Our Opportunity:

The ideal Switcher Driver will work closely with the Chewy transportation and operations team, as well as Chewy carriers and vendors, to provide exemplary customer service in our Sparks, NV location. This position is critical in ensuring that the Chewy shipping/receiving docks have an adequate supply and constant flow of loaded and empty trailers that are positioned safely, accurately, and efficiently.  The successful candidate will have some experience in yard operations with an emphasis on switching or driving experience. 

 What you'll do:

  • Safely move carrier trailers within the Chewy yard to include both loads and empties for the Inbound and Outbound docks
  • Work with Transportation and Operations teams to prioritize tasks
  • Accurately report equipment statuses and productivity information to the Transportation Coordinators
  • Perform Yard Audits as needed
  • Ensure switcher equipment is in safe working order to include pre/post-trip inspections, tire condition, and unit hours reporting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you'll need:

  • 1 to 3 years switcher operating / driving / warehouse / distribution experience; specifically related to yard operations 
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to effectively operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate via 2 way radio
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Microsoft Excel and Outlook experience required
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 75 lbs. and bend, lift safely and repetitively with or without accommodations
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out simple instructions from oral instructions or written correspondence
  • Good communicator and active listener
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and safety guidelines
  • High level of professionalism and strong work ethic
  • The ability to adjust to sudden changes in customer demands or operational goals
  • Ability to plan and schedule tasks and handle multiple tasks at once
  • Adhere to quality and performance standards
  • Ability to work in a fast paced distribution environment
  • Detail oriented and accurate
  • Ability to focus attention on details
