Datto, the world’s leading provider of IT solutions delivered through Managed Service Providers (MSPs), is looking for an experienced individual who can serve as its Senior Director of Partner & Market Insights.  This role will work at the intersection between the interests of our partners, their clients, and our brand marketing, and will be tasked with understanding the MSP and Small- and Medium-sized Business (SMB) technology markets, the underlying mindsets, and the decision making processes of Datto’s partners and end-users.  In particular, the Sr. Director of Partner & Market Insights will be responsible for overseeing the collection, mining, developing, and distributing of qualitative and quantitative data insights to plan, direct and coordinate programs that sell Datto’s products to potential customers and drive continued relationships with Datto’s current customers by ensuring total satisfaction with the Company’s products.  This role will establish our customer intelligence platform and practice, utilizing big data methodologies to enable enhanced research and observations to be performed in conjunction with our insight community.  The role will also establish management practices for our customer data, and oversee the implementation of behavioral analysis, predictive analytics, consumer research, and segment-based marketing.  The Sr. Director of Partner & Market Insights will be responsible for leading a team of individuals responsible for understanding and marketing Datto products.

 

A look inside the job:

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team of professionals using advanced market research methods to drive learning and growth for the business;
  • Using data insights to identify new markets to enter, determine the demand for new and existing Datto product and services, benchmark against Datto’s competitors, and to identify and segment prospects and customers;
  • Identifying, developing and evaluating the company’s marketing strategy, product positioning, and messaging using strong knowledge of business objects and company mission;
  • Initiating and coordinating market research studies, analyzing and disseminating the findings;
  • Using data insights to recommend any modifications to Datto’s products, services, or marketing activities or policies to meet market demand and customer needs, in coordination with product, sales, and marketing managers; and
  • Using data insights and market analysis to develop product, marketing, and pricing strategies that will balance the Company’s profits while ensuring that customer satisfaction, including allocation of Company resources.

 

About You:

  • A qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (or a foreign equivalent degree) in Applied Communications, Marketing, or a closely related field followed by five years of progressively responsible experience working for an MSP (Managed Service Provider) and/or a technology company that designs and develops its own hardware and software and primarily serves MSPs.

The experience, which may be gained concurrently, must have included:

  • Four years of experience with gathering, analyzing, and presenting qualitative and quantitative research of MSPs and their small- and medium-sized business (SMB) customers, including interviews, surveys, third-party research, and analyst data.
  • Two years of experience working for an MSP that services SMBs including the areas of sales, marketing and support, as well as installations, maintenance, and developing the MSP’s CRM database.
  • One year of experience as a manager at a company that designs and develops its own hardware and software and sells primarily through indirect channels in a role that used customer data and insights to drive product, marketing, and service decisions.
  • A qualified candidate will also have Pragmatic Marketing certification.
