About The Role

Crunchyroll is looking for a Brand Manager to join our team! The Brand Manager in the Brand Management & Title Marketing team will focus on making anime fans passionate about our titles that they sign up for and watch. You will be responsible for being a content expert, maintaining relationships with creators and licensors of our titles, supporting marketing needs, and leading marketing campaigns.

Your love and passion for anime and pop culture pushes you to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be a strong teammate. We expect our streaming and other omni-channels to enjoy growth to scale and engage, are attractive to licensors and their representatives, are credible with audiences, and set the pace for the rest of the industry. The position requires strong partnership and collaboration with our creators/licensors in Japan, and global teams in marketing, communications, content, business development, and product.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an Anime Fan with a deep knowledge of anime fandom and culture, having invested thousands of hours consuming content. Someone truly passionate about entertainment, capable of extracting powerful communication insights from our content.
  • Is a strategic problem solver with a business mind: identifying key challenges, opportunities, and critical levers to drive growth of Crunchyroll in the market.
  • Has experience working and building relationships with creators and licensors and liaises closely day-to-day to maintain a strong relationship. Requires recurring meetings with Japan.
  • Advocates for global marketing campaigns with licensors while supporting and handling a high volume of asset approvals as the owner of titles.
  • Supports Content Team during the content pitch phase by delivering fresh media and creative ideas that prove to our licensors that Crunchyroll is the best home for their content.
  • Proactively identifies business-critical issues with licensors and opportunities to improve and optimize how we track, share, use, and traffic promotional assets in a timely manner.
  • Establishes the direction and objectives for each high priority title.
  • Is willing to learn to market within licensors’ restrictions and guidelines.
  • Has experience running and leading 360 marketing campaigns, from strategy development to tactical execution (including AV/trailers, digital/social, print and out-of-home).
  • Has a strong understanding of consumer insights and how they are translated into creative strategy and campaigns.
  • Has a deep understanding of the social media landscape: industry standard methodologies per platform and consumer social media behaviors.
  • Has an extensive understanding of marketing, social media, and paid media analytics and can apply data to the testing and optimization of campaigns.
  • Is a cross-functional partner able to engage, listen and collaborate with internal departments and teams to align early on overall strategies and goals. Expect to participate in the cross-functional collaboration through launch.
  • Is an effective collaborator in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. Expect to have multiple campaigns launching at once.
  • Can effectively communicate different facets of marketing campaigns to executives, show runners, talent, and partners.
  • Is able to adapt and care deeply about cultural nuances that come with working with global partners (external and internal).

What we need from you:

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in similar roles in entertainment or other consumer brands
  • Work experience with anime or have a deep love for anime content!
  • A sharp eye to details and enjoy being organized
  • Strong communication, presentation skills and positive team collaboration are required
  • Extensive experience working with creators and their teams
  • Proven track record building and leading scalable teams (small to midsize to large) that deliver outstanding content within budget and on time
  • Global mind-set: thinking and supporting both local and global needs
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English (Japanese language expertise is a bonus)
  • Ability to work efficiently as a phenomenal teammate as well as individually with minimal direction
  • A desire to thrive in our unique and energetic culture
  • Have a positive demeanor and be solution oriented
