Product Management, Director

As a product innovator & leader, you will work closely with producers, developers, live ops, consumer insights, and operations to build and test outstanding F2P mobile game experiences that optimize retention and monetization metrics on both original and existing games based on some of the top Anime brands in the world! The Director of Product Management will report and recommend across the Crunchyroll games portfolio, interacting with all the partner studios and functional leaders to drive business impact throughout new and live titles. Specifically tasked with improving game performance and monetization, the role involves synthesizing insights from product analysis, industry competition, promoting features and best processes, driving adoption across the portfolio, and reporting back to the business. You will also help define the roadmap, strategy, and vision of an original anime F2P mobile game by driving the entire feature lifecycle from the initial design phase through live-game optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Set the standard for analyzing game metrics (acquisition, retention, engagement, monetization, virality) and proactively find opportunities for product improvements across Crunchyroll Games portfolio.
  • Build knowledge and understanding of data-driven insights within the rest of the team through regular communication and the creation of important dashboards and reports.
  • Lead the development of an original F2P anime title ensuring outstanding features, gameplay mechanics, and monetization strategies.
  • Analyze a variety of game features and systems such as live ops events, sales & offers, storefront design, tutorials, level progression, ad placements, and marketing strategies.
  • Synthesize insights from internal and external intelligence sources to establish practical requirements for product implementation. Drive user and competitive research to ensure that product decisions are based on in-depth data analysis and an understanding of the market.
  • Operationalize insights by working closely with studios to capitalize on high-value growth opportunities.
  • Build and supervise A/B tests to improve meaningful metrics on individual games and across entire portfolio as well as attributing business impact through regular measurement and reporting of the best method adoption.
  • Advise product strategy across the portfolio, effecting change to drive economies of scope/scale while maintaining a centralized library of data, analysis, and requirements as a resource for the team.
  • Raise transparency of insights & requirements by supplying to regular team communications.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in a product management role on top grossing free-to-play mobile games.
  • Extensive product management experience in free-to-play game development with a consistent track record in leading live operations, balancing in-game economies, and leading PM teams.
  • Passion for and in-depth knowledge of ARPG, JRPG, mid-core and hardcore genres and other FTP titles in these categories.
  • Experience synthesizing quantitative product analysis with other sources of business insights.
  • Strong passion for games, creating fun, compelling and addictive user experiences.
  • Excellent data analysis, Tableau experience, and ability to write queries for SQL database required.
  • Previous experience with new game development from concept stage through to worldwide launch preferred.
  • Can prioritize, clarify, and communicate complex ideas quickly, succinctly and accurately.
  • Familiarity with App Annie, Sensor Tower or similar analytics services.
  • Self-starter who can work autonomously and take ownership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator.
  • MBA or Graduate Degree in Economics or Mathematics preferred.
  • Knowledge of anime a plus.
  • Experience working with licensors a plus.
  • Asian language skills a plus.
