Crunchyroll COVID-19 Hiring Status

About The Team

Content Operations (or COPS for short) is the team responsible for delivering the best anime, animation, and other sweet content to our passionate audiences through Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, and beyond. The COPS team reviews, processes and localizes thousands of hours of content from dozens of partners and our own production studios. Our role is mission-critical to the success of Crunchyroll and the close-knit crew in Chisinau is the vanguard for keeping the quality bar high for all content that goes live across Crunchyroll brands.

About You:

• Quality Control experience in the entertainment industry is a plus;
• Must possess a fundamental understanding of audio, video, interactive multimedia, software playback programs, and consumer electronic devices;
• Individuals must be able to troubleshoot quality control issues, software, and player anomalies;
• Duties require an accurate and methodical approach to testing as well as very focused and detailed attention to audio, video, and subtitle impairments and artifacts;
• General knowledge of media is required; knowledge of digital media is a plus;
• File quality control experience is preferred;
• Computer savvy and basic knowledge of both Mac and PC required;
• Individuals must be organized and diligent;
• Ability to thrive working in a fast­-paced environment with hard deadlines;
• Flexibility to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet project deadlines;
• Experience with Aegisub and Mediainfo is a plus;
• Prior experience with video editing, de-interlacing, and/or re-mastering is a plus;
• Respect for anime and its lifestyle and culture, familiarity with fandom communities;
• Passion for TV and new media with a strong desire to be part of the future of entertainment;
• English proficiency.

A day in the life of our Video QA Associate:

• The individual will perform quality assurance testing on video, audio, closed captioning, and subtitle files, including:
  • Pre-ingest QC of incoming client-supplied materials (audio, video, subtitles, and graphics) for production;
  • Emulation QC of several different types of files (linear playback testing of audio, video, and subtitles; closed captioning; etc.);
  • Visual quality assurance testing of compressed video material for problems such as interlaced artifacts, incorrect telecining and frame rate issues, blocking, dot­crawl, color space issues, etc;
  • Audible quality assurance testing of encoded audio material;
  • Visual quality assurance testing of subtitle files (sync and positioning);
• Other duties as assigned.
