Business Intelligence Analyst 

 

SUMMARY 

Working directly for the Senior Director of Merchandise Planning and Allocation, this position is responsible for gathering and interpreting raw data to derive valuable insights for our merchandising team.  The Business Analyst will develop and implement analytics solutions, track key performance metrics and improve business performance through their analyses.  The Business Analyst will collaborate with buyers and inventory analysts to optimize purchase planning, gross margin and cluster productivity.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Execute analytics projects to extract, manage and analyze data from multiple applications.  
  • Apply statistics and data modeling to gain actionable business insights and boost cluster productivity and revenue 
  • Utilize analyses to drive financial results and maximize sales, inventory turnover and gross profit.
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners to provide updated financial forecasts for sales and margin throughout the year.
  • Periodically review merchandise assortment clusters for effectiveness and annually review assortment by office to assure each office has the best assortment cluster for its customer base.
  • Create tools to maintain and review product performance and inventory reporting. 
  • Develop a suite of dashboard reporting to provide business insights, trends, goal attainments, etc to leadership.  Provide recommendations for future strategies 
  • Perform any/all ad hoc analysis as needed to support operations issues/considerations/concerns.  Drive timely and effective communication with business partners

 

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, IT, or related field required.
  • 3+ Years professional experience with SQL
  • Familiarity with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
  • Experience working with PowerBI Developer
  • Preferably experience working with enterprise data such as Finance, Operations, Marketing, or Merchandising.
  • Familiar with statistical or advanced analytics models is desirable 
  • Experience working with Databases and querying skills
  • Familiarity with in building reports, dashboards, and scorecards in Excel, PowerBI, or Tableau.High Proficiency in MS Excel and Pivot Tables 
  • Familiarity working with Python, R, or statistical programmable languages is a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Required:   Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field
  • Minimum Required:   5-8 years of experience in analytics positions or similar role is required
  • Past experience working for a retailer preferred
