Cloud Engineer

Position Summary:  The Cloud Engineer will work in a team environment to architect, design, and build server and system infrastructure to support Eyecare Partners communications, business processes and end user technology needs.  The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of server, database and cloud technologies in general, as well as experience working in a high growth, large enterprise, multi-location environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Solid knowledge and hands on experience in EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS, NoSQL
  • Experience with one or more container orchestration platform (e.g. AWS ECS, EKS; Azure ACI, AKS; GCP Cloud Run, GKE; Kubernetes) 
  • Experience with one or more Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools  
  • 3+ years of Ansible/Terraform/ experience
  • 3+ years of provisioning AWS IaaS and PaaS assets to support applications
  • Assist DevOps teams with pipeline deployments 
  • Migrate on-premises workloads to the cloud 
  • Proactively adopt new cloud infrastructure and technologies 
  • Knowledge of AWS networking basics (VPC, Subnets, Route53, Gateways, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge with AWS security components (security groups, encryption, KMS, key rotation, etc.)
  • Understands IAM concepts
  • Agile team experience
  • Some programming or scripting experience (e.g. Python, Go, shell, PowerShell) 
  • Understanding of IP networking including routing, subnetting, and firewalls 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least 4 years related experience at the same level and/or formal training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience effectively managing database Preferably PostgreSQL, servers, storage, and infrastructure systems for large enterprise organizations
  • Experience working with multi-location offices, across different geographies, including remote management of infrastructure equipment
  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability
  • Project experience implementing core infrastructure, networking and cloud-based services for business teams or consumers
  • Proficient in at least 1 development language and infrastructure as code (recommended)

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Must be able to sit for an extended period of time.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The job operates in a professional office environment.  The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.  Must work 40 hours each week to maintain full time status.
