Data Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Senior Operations Analyst to drive analytical projects for our Optometry services team focused on improving data telemetry and reporting. This role reports directly to the President of the Optometry Business segment. This includes collaboration with others on initiatives critical to the success of the enterprise. Projects generate work items ranging from data mining, business analysis, data integrity, data acquisition, development of new ad-hoc reporting, formation of business case modelling for operating initiatives. You’ll be focused on designing, managing, and publishing reporting and analytics that provides business stakeholders with progress being made. You’ll also highlight where gaps may exist that require process refinement and operational improvement.

Core Responsibilities and Capabilities:

  • Leverage hypotheses-based approach to identify, validate and quantify opportunities
  • Develops and improves credible and pragmatic analytical approaches and frameworks, uses continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six-Sigma) when appropriate
  • Builds intermediate to complex models and conducts financial planning and analysis to assess impact on business metrics.
  • Queries and analyzes large datasets to drive meaningful insights while proactively identifying new areas of opportunity to drive further improvements.
  • Observes operations to incorporate ‘real-world’ consideration into the work.
  • Update and maintain multiple dashboards and data sources to feed automated reporting to the extended team.
  • Conveys findings in a cohesive story, including summarizing insights from analysis
  • Distills complex business problems into cohesive, impactful stories.
  • Works closely with teammates in the clinics and develops long-standing relationships with operators and clinicians.
  • Creates and manages individual work plan and contributes to overall project plan.
  • Travel – Up to 50% travel may be required at times; though typical travel is 5-10%

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL ALSO EXHIBIT THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES OR SKILLS:

  • Experience with retail industry, merchandising analysis and distributed operating model
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skill, and ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and generate innovative solutions in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to frame complex analytical problems, pull data, and extract insights that led to intangible business results.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skill
  • Willingness to roll up the sleeves and do whatever is necessary to meet team goals and deadlines.
  • Challenge the status quo and ask the hard questions to ensure investment of time and resources is warranted

RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Statistics or similar discipline required; MBA preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience as an Operations analyst, Business analyst, Data scientist or similar job function, including 3+ years of relevant experience with data mining, SQL code, Alteryx, Power BI, building reporting, and modeling
  • Experience in developing business models and metrics to address business critical issues in a time-sensitive environment.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
