Data Integration/Migration Engineer – Information Technology

Job Summary:  We are seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Data Migration Engineer in our growing Enterprise Data & Analytics team, which is responsible for deploying and supporting modern data platforms, analytics tools, enterprise data management, data integration& migrations, data engineering and enterprise analytics. This role is responsible for planning and executing data migrations from various practice management (PM) and electronic health/medical (EHR/EMR) records into our propriety PM/EMR systems as part of an overall business integration program. This role will also have opportunities to work with other data engineers in the team and build enterprise data assets on our next generation datahub platform as well as participate in exciting analytics initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with subject matter experts and project team to identify, define, collate, document and communicate the data migration requirements
  • Assist in designing, planning and executing the data migration process
  • Prepare data migration plans including migration risk, milestones, quality and business sign-off details
  • Perform source system data analysis and document source to target data mapping
  • Analyze data elements from various systems, data flow, dependencies, relationships and assist in designing conceptual physical and logical data models as needed
  • Perform migration and testing of static data and transaction data from one core system to another
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with data migrations by working with source system/data owners, vendor support teams as needed
  • Perform data migration audit, reconciliation and exception reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness of data migrations in source and target systems
  • Manage assigned risks and monitor potential impacts as part of the data migration plan
  • Develop best practice, processes, and standards for effectively carrying out data migration activities
  • Stay up to date with evolving trends in the data conversions/migration space
  • Conduct proof of concepts with modern data migration tools/frameworks and present to leadership as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent + 3 years related experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on-experience in the design, development, and implementation of data conversion & migration solutions in healthcare or related industries
  • Good SQL knowledge with strong query writings skills
  • Good scripting skills (PowerShell, Linux and/or cloud scripting tools)
  • Experience with Linux operating system
  • Good understanding of Java and related integrated development environment (IDE) such as Eclipse
  • Good understanding of relational databases such as Postgres
  • Good understanding of cloud platforms, architectures and services is a plus
  • Demonstrated problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to think and work with a proactive mindset
  • A self-motivated personality with a passion for working in a fast-paced environment
