Technology PMO Lead

Position Summary: 

We are looking for an experienced Technology PMO Lead to drive the creation of an overarching technology project governance structure, head up project delivery across the group, and support/align/partner with other PMO teams outside technology. This is a high-profile role, reporting into the Chief information Officer, regularly interacting with senior leaders of the organization and other C-suite executives. The role's focus is to combine the best practices from business unit PMO teams, enterprise PMO and the industry, to create a transparent, well-governed technology PMO focused on adding value to EyeCare Partners.

The Technology PMO Lead is also responsible for various methods and practices around provisioning technology into the business, improving the overall PPM maturity across the organization, and tracking and reporting the conformance to plans and expectations of IT-oriented initiatives. As an arm of the overall governance function, the role is responsible for supporting and enabling the organization’s projects, programs and structured work efforts.

The scope of the role will cover agile project methodologies, consumer facing, and enterprise projects, all of which need to be accounted for in the overall PMO framework and operating model. The Technology PMO lead will play a vital role in the definition, governance setup, and implementation of critical initiatives in support of EyeCare Partner’s technology strategy, the coordination of their execution, and tracking results. He/she will serve as a partner to all stakeholders and form connections across businesses, facilitating cooperation and bringing people together across multiple external and internal entities. The individual will lead and effectively drive the successful completion of all technology programs. The leader will be managing a blended resource team (employees, managed services vendors and on demand contractors).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement technology project intake processes
  • Lead/drive resource utilization and demand management across technology group partnering with technology portfolio leaders
  • Own technology portfolio management (from ideation through the realization of the benefits it set out to provide)
  • Establish and standardize program/project methodology practices and reporting
  • Facilitate business case preparation and approvals partnering with Operations, Finance and Technology and Enterprise PMO functions
  • Lead management IT Steering Committee planning and reporting
  • Lead and/or attend various project/program steering committee meetings
  • Compile Enterprise Technology Strategy document and manage/evolve technology strategy
  • Own technology budget creation, tracking, reporting and look for opportunities to streamline technology spend
  • Manage technology contracts/licenses/subscriptions procurement/renewal
  • Lead a staff of project/program managers performing project and program management responsibilities
  • Assist technology leadership team with annual strategic planning
  • Lead identification and implementation of PPM platform
  • Support enterprise PMO with enterprise wide initiatives, executive and board level reporting
  • Increase the technical depth and capability of reporting teams through both coaching and development and recruitment of critical hires
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years’ experience in large scale information technology program management leading project/program managers
  • Project methodology certifications (PgMP, PMP, SAFe etc.)
  • Experience working with globally diverse partners or leading cross-functional teams
  • Strategic individual with analytical and problem-solving skills. Self-starter, able to operate with minimal direction
  • A distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills. (This is a highly visible position with substantial impact.)
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control of this role.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills.
  • Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic resource plan.
  • Experience managing complex programs with large budgets, exacting stakeholders, multiple vendors, and firm deadlines
  • Experience with Change Management and/or Program Management of M&A activities is a plus
