Cavanaugh Eye Center, a busy ophthalmology/LASIK practice in Overland Park, is seeking a full-time front office receptionist that enjoys interacting with patients as well as has the ability to multi-task. Our two-doctor practice is a boutique practice which offers state-of-the-art technology in a small, personalized setting. We seek an individual with a dynamic personality for general front office duties which include the following: answer phones, schedule appointments, check patients in and out, post charges, maintain patient records, faxes, etc. Qualified candidates must have excellent customer service and organizational skills, a minimum of one year working in a medical office, proficient on windows-based medical software, and enjoy patient interaction. A friendly personality is a must as is the ability to work well with others. Previous experience working in an ophthalmology office, experience with EMR, and billing and coding experience are a plus. We offer competitive pay commensurate with experience and excellent benefits including health, dental, PTO, 401k, profit sharing, disability and more. 40-hours/week. Early out on Fridays--out between 1pm - 2pm and rotated closing at 3pm. Potentially, there may be travel to our satellite office in Topeka up to two Tuesdays per month with office staff and physician--paid travel time, carpool with co-workers, and reimbursement for mileage if drive.

A Front Desk employee is trained to act as the first point of contact for our patients where they set the tone for the patient’s visit through excellent patient care. The Front Desk employee will also perform the necessary administrative responsibilities needed to create a smooth check-in/out experience for patients. 

       Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone). Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave.
  • Answer phones (both external and internal); assure prompt, courteous service at all times.
  • Practice urgency at all times with patient’s time, as well as doctor’s time and schedule.
  • Double check insurance authorizations to ensure completion and build accurate flow sheets.
  • Manage patient flow in the office.
  • Check in/out, phones, triage, scheduling
  • Understand insurance, Collect/Post payments
  • Open and close
  • May have to travel to satellite office up to two times per month

       Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
