Position Overview:

This position is responsible for managing all staff and daily operations of the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) functions to optimize the patient financial experience. The RCM COE Manager is accountable for all RCM processes to include but are not limited to insurance verification, authorizations, patient statements, charge entry/coding, submission of clean claims, collection of patient and insurance receivables, AR management, denials, cash posting, and patient and operational communications.  Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to all COE outputs in legacy and acquired practice locations, meeting or exceeding all established goals and benchmarks, and maximizing revenue while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following are general responsibilities associated with the job and are listed in order of greatest to least amount of time spent on the duties. 

  • Work with the Director in the development of streamlining processes, maintain accurate and timely billing processes, identify opportunities with RCM systems to continually enhance the COE
  • Create and implement metrics for productivity and quality
  • Ensure adherence to and compliance of payer, government and internal system regulatory policies
  • Monitor key revenue cycle management performance levels 
  • Conduct streamlined communication and collaboration with practice RCM teams, Practice Administrators, RCM leadership, and other various RCM stakeholders
  • Assess and transition new acquisition practice locations
  • Ensure that all employees within the department have received the proper level of training to complete their daily tasks
  • Assist and support the migration to consistent and standard technology platforms
  • Perform all month-end procedures and assist in assessing any variances to baselines 
  • Promote integration, consolidation, standardization and optimization
  • Displays a commitment to excellence and identifies ways to improve and promote quality and performance, which includes knowledge of best practices, prompt identification and resolution of staff concerns or problems, providing prompt response to practice inquiries and soliciting staff feedback to improve team performance and satisfaction

  • Ability to successfully meet demanding timelines and set appropriate priorities
  • Displays eagerness to accept additional responsibilities at the discretion of management

  • Adheres to ECP confidentiality policy which includes verbal, written, computer generated, computer accessed, filmed and recorded information related to patients, their family and visitors, staff, physicians, and clients.  Responsible for the protection of confidentiality of data at all times.
  • Works in a safe manner and follows all ECP safety requirements.  Reports all incidents, near misses, and adverse events.

 

Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following are preferred qualifications associated with the job and will be under consideration. 

  • Experience in Optometry/Ophthalmology physician practice environment preferred
  • NextGen and Waystar software experience preferred

Education and Experience: The minimum level of education and experience required to perform the job at a satisfactory level.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, however progressive career experience, minimum 5 years in a patient financial services role will be given strong consideration
  • Minimum 3 years of healthcare revenue cycle leadership experience; physician’s office or medical environment preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The minimum level of knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job at a satisfactory level.

  • Strong change management skills in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Strong people leadership skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to patient accounting, CPT/ICD10 coding, and including a solid understanding of Medicare, Medicaid and managed care processes
  • Demonstrates ability to interact successfully with persons at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently in a productive, goal-oriented manner.
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel required
