SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall daily management of the PAT Department.

 

Demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers, and vendors:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a computer database for tracking surgical patients.
  • Receive appropriate communication from surgery schedulers to schedule each patient for surgery.
  • Obtain and review all pre-admission testing for the surgical patient.
  • Conduct a phone assessment of each surgical patient to obtain medical and medication history.
  • Communicate with primary care physicians, cardiologists, oncologists, etc. to obtain necessary information for appropriate medical evaluation preoperatively.
  • Communicate directly with the anesthesia staff and surgeons to ensure all questions regarding pre-operative patients are answered prior to surgery to ensure a smooth schedule.
  • Evaluate patients for allergies and set up allergy testing when appropriate.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for PAT RNs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN).
  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 5 years experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Pre-admission testing experience preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Current Ohio RN license
  • CPR certification

Location: Work takes place in a normal office environment. Travel to other CVP locations may be necessary to fulfill essential duties and responsibilities of the job. Thus, those needing to travel for work must have access to dependable transportation, and driving record must meet company liability carrier standards.

 

Exposure: Position requires the person to work various hours, as the surgery center is generally open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids. May also be exposed to various cleaning supplies.

 

Equipment: The equipment typically used in this position is a computer, fax, copier, printer, scanner and telephone. Must have good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Access. Other equipment may be used as needed. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment.
