Systems Administrator

Job Summary:  The System Administrator will work in a team environment to maintain, document, and implement Windows/Linux server and system infrastructure to support Eyecare Partners communications, business processes and end user technology needs.  The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of server and cloud technologies in general, as well as experience working in a high growth, large enterprise, multi-location environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with co-workers, internal analysts, and external vendors to research problems and find solutions.
  • Manage all facets of Active Directory including account management, file and share access, and group policy.
  • Install new Windows/Linux servers, rebuild existing servers, and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements in cloud or on-premise environment.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verify the integrity, and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform advanced scripting to automate common tasks (patching, reporting, account creation, etc.).
  • Ensure all systems are set up to have automated alerts and notifications of abnormal events.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades and upgrade administrative tools and utilities in accordance with established policy and procedures.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  • Manage and adhere to all facets of the Change Management Process when making changes to infrastructure systems.
  • Assist with the creation and modification of all documentation regarding installation, configuration procedures, system documentation, and Standard Operation Manual (SOM).
  • Work on various on-going technology projects as assigned.
  • Provide Tier 3 support and handle escalations from Service Desk and other support teams.
  • Participate in, and when requested lead, all efforts related to audits and compliance.
  • Provide afterhours support (on call) on a rotating schedule.
  • Travel to other Eyecare Partners facilities, when deemed necessary by IT management.
  • Assists with other duties as directed by management.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least 4 years related experience at the same level and/or formal training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 4 years of experience effectively managing servers, storage, and infrastructure systems for large enterprise organizations
  • Experience working with multi-location offices, across different geographies, including remote management of infrastructure equipment
  • Technical depth and experience with Microsoft Technologies (Active Directory, OS, Applications, Management tools, etc.).
  • Technical depth and experience with Linux operating systems, applications, and directory services
  • Previous experience working with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) technologies (Cisco) as well as virtualization technologies (VMware, etc) preferred
  • Knowledge and depth of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.), common CIS standards, ITIL, IT SOX controls, change and configuration management best practices, email servers and email security solutions, among other best practices, tools, and technology
  • Experience working with with healthcare systems (Ophthalmology and Optometry preferred) as well as medical device integration highly desired
  • Proven and demonstrable project coordination/management skills using industry standard methodologies
  • Independent, highly motivated, skilled in multi-tasking, and strong communication skills (presentation, written and verbal)
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail, with a track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, fast paced, able to adapt to change quickly and able to respond to customer’s needs quickly or find the right person to do so
  • Exceptional conflict resolution skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management and end users in a fast-paced environment
