Position Summary:
We are seeking a Head of Genomics Data Science to build and lead a state-of-the-art genomic data platform. The candidate brings enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, scientific rigor, and a deep-rooted desire to innovate in genomics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Genomics Data Science team to enable research and development activities, prioritizing and allocating resources to achieve company goals.
  • Collaborate closely with platform and development teams
  • Rapidly build a team and develop the talent pipeline
  • Identify and integrate relevant structured and unstructured functional and genomics datasets into FL86’s database
  • Develop and deploy statistical models to assess database for novel discoveries
  • Foster collaborations across Flagship Pioneering companies, academia, and CROs
  • Initially, significant hands-on method development and analysis

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in human genetics, statistical genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics or similar discipline.
  • 7+ years post-Ph.D. experience in computational biology with outstanding skills in bioinformatics, genomics, genetics, large-scale data analysis, and statistical model building, as evidenced by presentations and publications.
  • Preferred experience in data infrastructure development, data management, and software engineering
  • Strong leadership, management, and collaboration skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work successfully in a matrix environment, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, integrate cross-functional issues and balance competing priorities effectively.
