Job Summary:

Serqet Therapeutics is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Research Associate/Senior Research Associate with broad expertise in cell biology and biochemistry to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will play an essential role within an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals. Working closely with biologists, chemists, computer scientists, and geneticists, this position will focus on validating targets and developing and running assays to advance Serqet’s drug discovery programs while also helping to elucidate novel disease-implicated pathways and underlying cell biology identified through the company’s proprietary approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate platform-implicated therapeutic targets using an integrated strategy of state-of-the-art cell and molecular biology techniques, biochemistry and small molecule modulator treatments
  • Establish robust cellular systems for human disease modeling and therapeutics testing
  • Work as part of a team to develop molecular and functional assays in relevant systems such as immortalized cell lines and differentiated iPSCs
  • Perform experimental protocols and workflows with careful attention to detail
  • Troubleshoot and optimize assays
  • Effectively communicate results as well as challenges encountered to the broader team
  • Effectively work within and across diverse research teams to successfully progress scientific objectives
  • Keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results

Required Skills and Experience

  • B.Sc or M.Sc. in Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neurobiology, Genetics or related discipline with 2 or more years of industry or academic experience
  • Deep knowledge of cell and molecular biology techniques with proven hands-on experience with a variety of approaches, such as cell culture (immortalized and/or iPSCs), western-blot, HTRF, Elisa, DNA/RNA techniques
  • Experience executing cell-based assays and utilizing mammalian cell culture
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment as a team player with a strong work ethic, good communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Background in or familiarity with neurobiology
  • Experience working with and differentiating iPSCs
