Position Summary:

Generate Biomedicines is looking for an individual to be a part of a growing protein sciences department that is leveraging automated high-throughput platforms in multiple areas of protein production and characterization workflows. The individual will contribute to workflows that include protein expression, purification, and characterization of proteins in high throughput platforms.  They will work collaboratively with the Protein Science team in delivering purified and characterized proteins that help support multiple programs and platforms across the company. This position will focus on the production of recombinant proteins across a range of protein modalities and characterizing these proteins for properties such as size, purity and aggregation.  They will be responsible for designing experiments and analyzing data with the help of their supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Execution of high-throughput automated protein expression and purification workflows using liquid handling robots.
• Running and developing methods for AKTA based purifications.
• Assessing protein quality through analytical techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, Analytical Size Exclusion).
• Detailed documentation of experiments and data on our internal LIMS systems and electronic notebook.
• Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills.
• Outstanding team player with a focus on collaboration.

Preferred skills:

• Operation of liquid handling robots.
• Proficiency working with multiple expression systems (mammalian, insect and E. coli).
• Familiar with various affinity purifications (His, Protein A, Strep).
• Ability to program and run AKTA systems.
• Experience with SDS-PAGE, iBlot, Agilent HPLC and LabChip.

Minimum Experience: 0-3 yrs BS or 0-1+ yrs with MS of biologics purification experience in a biotech/pharma setting
