Position Summary:
FL69 is seeking a Scientist to lead our computational efforts on protein function prediction. The ideal candidate has a strong background in human genetics, sequence conservation analysis, prediction of protein structure and function, has experience in both developing new methods and establishing bioinformatics pipelines, and thrives in an interdisciplinary team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive forward our target discovery efforts via analysis of protein sequences to predict structure/function
- Develop innovative approaches to sequence conservation analysis
- Create innovative data visualizations and communicate complex results to interdisciplinary audiences
- Ensure computational work is documented and reproducible
- Work in a highly dynamic startup environment with an interdisciplinary team
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD or MS with multiple years industry experience or equivalent in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or related field
- Experience analyzing protein conservation
- Experience with cutting-edge tools for the prediction of protein structure/function
- Demonstrated ability in working with highly skilled, diverse teams
- Demonstrated industry experience or academic achievement, as evidenced by publications in high impact journals, conference proceedings, or widely used codebase
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner
- Proficiency in at least one programming language
- Familiarity with version control and a commitment to reproducible computational research
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with protein co-evolution analysis
- Experience with machine learning approaches to protein function prediction
- Proficiency in R or Python
- Experience with cloud computing
