Job description

Generate Biomedicines is seeking a motivated scientist to lead the molecular biology activities supporting high-throughput protein production. The successful candidate will join a talented team of researchers in executing high-throughput cloning methods on automated liquid handling robots. Work across multiple protein modalities, including antibodies and enzymes. Collaborate with groups across Generate including Machine Learning, Informatics, Computational Biology, Automation Working Group, and other teams within Protein Sciences. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team through planning and execution of high-throughput cloning workstreams
  • Oversee planning, execution, and tracking of cloning workflows using our world class informatics and database tools
  • Curate structured data and perform database queries
  • Conduct quality control assessments of DNA samples before hand off for mammalian transfection, including use of MiSeq and NanoPore technologies
  • Perform batch data analysis from Sanger and NGS outputs
  • Maintain excellent quality control standards and archival practices

Required skills

  • PhD with 0 to 5 years experience. BS/MS degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related field will also be considered. 
  • 1-5 years of experience working in drug discovery for BS/MS candidates
  • Expertise in modern cloning techniques (Golden Gate, Gibson, etc) 
  • Expertise in DNA quality control, bulk sequence analysis, and sequencing technologies
  • Experience with scripting and programming (Python, R, SQLite, C++) 
  • Experience working with liquid handling robots is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with antibodies and knowledge of antibody structure is strongly preferred
