Position Summary
Generate Biomedicines is seeking to expand their Immunogenicity team by recruiting a talented and creative Scientist to play a leading role in the expansion of its immunogenicity assessment capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to join our team at a critical stage of its development where you will lead efforts to explore novel biological principals, develop new methods and ultimately innovate in the immunogenicity space. You will be directly responsible for identifying critical gaps in our understanding of the biological mechanisms underpinning immunogenicity and charged with applying your findings towards the assessment and removal of immunogenicity liabilities for protein-based therapeutics. You will actively collaborate with our Machine Learning, Computational Biology and Protein Sciences groups to gain novel biological insights and apply those findings to the creation of therapeutic proteins. We are searching for an enthusiastic, innovative, well-organized, and self-motivated individual who is driven by mastery of their domain of expertise while equally excited to apply insights towards solving critical problems and to develop novel approaches and assays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain deep understanding around the challenges and gaps in knowledge surrounding the immunogenicity of therapeutic proteins
  • Generate hypotheses and design experimental plans to validate novel approaches to the assessment and mitigation of immunogenicity
  • Source, plan and establish assays for the assessment of Generate’s protein-based therapeutics
  • Evaluate multiple assay formats to identify the most relevant assay for each project and modality
  • Drive creativity in experimental design and troubleshooting to rapidly onboard new capabilities and prototype new ideas
  • Support pre-clinical, IND-enabling immunogenicity assessment and preparation of regulatory filings
  • Develop and manage relationships with external CROs and collaborators
  • Partner with protein engineers, data scientists and machine learning engineers in a highly collaborative environment
  • Presentation and publication of findings and novel learnings at conferences and in academics/industry leading journals

Experience and Qualifications

  • M.S. with 3-6+ years’ experience preferably in industry, or Ph.D. with 0-3+ years’ experience in immunology or a related field is required.
  • A demonstrated track record of independent research and peer-reviewed publications in the areas of immunology research is strongly preferred.
  • Fully proficient with general mammalian and primary immune cell culture techniques, including isolating, culturing, and assaying immune cells
  • Direct experience performing standard immunological techniques, including multi-parameter flow cytometry, cell sorting, immunoassays such as ELISA and ELISPOT, and primary cell-based assays (MLR, PBMC cultures, etc.)
  • Experience in the assessment of immunogenicity of vaccines or proteins (including DC and T cell-based assays) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, troubleshoot and execute experiments, analyze data, and report conclusions with an ability to parallel process and prioritize multiple projects and timelines
  • Experience with assay automation, utilization of robotics, high-throughput screening (HTS) assay development and/or large-scale data analysis a plus
  • Flexibility to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented environment with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines
