Position summary
Laronde is seeking a highly-motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist for our Data Science team who brings enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, scientific rigor and a desire to innovate new eRNA medicines.
Key responsibilities
- Build machine-learning models from data collection to testing to characterize eRNA biology
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop data models to integrate eRNA manufacturing metrics and functional/pharmacological readouts generated in therapeutic development
- Build in-house knowledge base that combines data from human genetics, disease biology, genomics, and the other omics to facilitate discovery and preclinical studies
- Evaluate and propose bioinformatics-related technologies and approaches to meet the needs of Discovery Biology
- Analyze next-generation sequencing data and perform comprehensive data mining to guide activities in discovery and therapeutic programs
- Involve in experiment design of discovery and proof-of-concept studies
Requirements
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or statistics with at least 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience in applying deep learning approaches in biological data processing
- Excellent programming skills using python, R, SQL and NoSQL, and familiar with deep learning frameworks
- Knowledge in disease biology and genetics and ability of data interpretation in biologically meaningful way
- Experience in omics data analysis in particular NGS-based data (Transcriptome, Translatome, DNA sequencing, single-cell platform)
- Strong communication skills to present and discuss scientific data
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with target database and literature mining using applicable computational and informatics approaches
- Familiarity with cloud computing
- Experience working with data science projects in different technology platforms or modalities
