Position Summary:

This Scientist / Senior Scientist position will join a dynamic and rapidly growing team to scale and automate novel high-throughput screening systems to build robust and extensible screening platforms.  The successful candidate will play a key role in formulating and executing on a science & technology strategy that will allow the company to deliver against its near- and longer-term goals.  This position will be responsible for collaborating closely with a larger team to utilize innovative platforms across multiple projects. The scope of this work will include not only technology development and scaling, but the organization and tracking of samples and high-dimensional data throughout complex experimental pipelines. Technical expertise in in yeast surface display, high-throughput screening, and/or flow cytometry / FACS is required, and general experience with antibody characterization, immune profiling, and/or protein engineering platforms is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other experimental and computational scientists to design, optimize, and implement innovative screening platforms
  • Build a robust infrastructure of laboratory protocols, tools, and systems that will scale efficiently
  • Optimize screening workflows using experimental scaling and automation
  • Produce and track high-dimensional datasets
  • Train and mentor research associates
  • Contribute to scaling and automation of additional technology platforms as needed
  • Help formulate and articulate the company’s science & technology strategy, and monitor progress toward key strategic goals on an ongoing basis
  • Communicate progress, insights, and conclusions to colleagues in scientific and leadership teams
  • Collaborate with computational scientists to develop efficient analytical pipelines, guide data analysis, interpret results, and build an iterative experimental cycle

Basic Qualifications:

  • Expertise in molecular or cellular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field and either:
    • A Ph.D. plus 0-4+ years of experience
    • A B.S./M.S. and 8-10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Technical expertise in in high-throughput screening, flow cytometry / FACS, and yeast surface display
  • Demonstrated experience with liquid handlers and lab automation
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, as well as some management experience
  • Must have strong attention to detail and an ability to adapt in a rapidly growing and changing environment
  • Demonstrated post-PhD experience in using and scaling innovative high-throughput assays and tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with antibody characterization, immune profiling, protein engineering, or antigen design
  • Familiarity with generating diverse DNA libraries, high-throughput cloning and molecular biology, and/or NGS
