The Role:
FL68 is seeking a capable and highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our expanding cell therapy team. This person will use their extensive in vivo experience to directly support the exploratory and pre-clinical assessments of FL68’s novel cell therapy platform. They will lead the design, implementation, and analysis of in vivo studies and guide the direction of in vivo programs. The successful candidate will bring an entrepreneurial spirit, demonstrate strong communication skills, and be comfortable working in and contributing to a very dynamic and cross-functional team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, execution, and supervision of in vivo studies (both internally and through CROs) aimed to develop and optimize our novel cell therapy platform, including assessments of migration, efficacy, persistence, dose-response, specificity, and biodistribution.
• Lead the continuous development of novel animal models for new proof of concept and therapeutic demonstrations.

• Work both collaboratively and independently to generate data and to critically analyze and interpret data with scientific rigor and an open mind.
• Report results to the scientific team and to management and make recommendations that guide the direction of the program.
• Contribute to in vitro cell therapy assessments using co-culture assays.
• Continually develop assays and operating procedures and transfer your knowledge and skills to other team members.
• Stay abreast of the relevant literature and act as a resource for the entire company.

Key Requirements:

• Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, or related field with 5+ years of relevant academic or industrial experience.
• Expertise in designing and implementing in vivo syngeneic/xenograft/humanized mouse studies; ideally demonstrated experience in developing novel models for cell therapy assessments including migration, expansion, persistence, biodistribution, function, and phenotype.
• Expertise in the fundamentals of rodent animal handling skills, including dosing, preparation of test compounds, anesthesia, necropsy, and blood and tissue collection.
• Working knowledge of various methods for primary cell isolation such as tissue dissociation, MACS, FACS, and density gradients, and for culturing of cells isolated from blood or tissues.
• Experience in flow cytometry including multicolor panel design, reagent assessment, staining protocol optimization, instrument operation, cell sorting, data acquisition, and data analysis.
• Experience working with a diversity of mammalian cell lines.
• Experience performing in vitro cell-based assays.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
• Well organized, possesses extreme attention to detail, strong desire to make an impact.
• Demonstrated ability to work with highly skilled teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and technical setting.
