Summary:
The Sr Manager, Vendor Project Management role will focus on working with external partners on projects that are in part or completely outsourced, initiating from various groups within the protein discovery department, from discovery through to scale-up production. This is a great opportunity for a scientist wanting to move off the bench, and into a more operational/managerial role to support a number of critical therapeutic and research projects across the organization.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Manage general strategy; create and optimize processes for CRO operations
- Conduct due diligence and manage the qualifying and selection of new CROs
- Collaborate with project team members, the legal department, and other key stakeholders to draft and finalize contracts, statements, and scope of work documents, as well as change orders and termination documents with CROs and consultants
- Liaise with project management and other key stakeholders to finalize timelines, scope, and associated costs for work orders
- Communicate with functional departments and key stakeholders to ensure contract deliverables are met on-time and by prescribed procedures
- Manage complex cross-project quotes, orders, and shipments and track order statuses across various systems
- Gather and record feedback on CRO performance in accordance with contractual time, quality, and budget; analyze and report on quarterly basis
- Proactively identify risks and propose and implement solutions
- Create, manage and use database for tracking compound storage, shipments and transfer of confidential information between Generate Biomedicines and CROs.
- Take and manage requests to purchase commercially available compounds and targets
Primary Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field of study required with a minimum of 5 years relevant life science experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing and coordinating outsourced resources
- Strong planning, strategizing, managing, monitoring, scheduling, and analytical skills
- Prior lab experience, with a desire to transition out to operations or project management
- An understanding of GCPs, GLPs, GMPs, and the pharma regulatory environment
- Familiarity with protein/antibody generation, production and reagents
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and remain detail-oriented is essential
- Negotiating, facilitating, and vendor management skills is a plus
- Experience working with clinical CROs is a plus
- Prior use of Smartsheets or other project management software is a plus
