Position Summary:

The RNA Rewriting group is seeking a Senior Research Associate to support the molecular characterization of novel gene writers to advance candidate selection efforts. We are looking for a highly independent, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to work on various aspects of the gene writers’ characterization. This individual will join a dynamic, collaborative and rapidly growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently lead and develop new projects, experiments, scientific processes to support characterization of novel rewriters.
  • Actively undertake technology development and assay optimization efforts.
  • Keep up with technical advances in the genomics space and innovate on assays and research projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture of primary and cancer cell lines (U2OS, HEK293, etc.).
  • Expertise in broad molecular biology techniques and assay optimization: Nucleic acids extraction, quantitation, gel electrophoresis, PCRs, qPCRs.
  • Experience with NGS pipelines: Illumina based DNA and RNA library construction, QC using TapeStation and fragment analyzer, running a MiSeq/ NextSeq.
  • Experience independently executing protocols, troubleshooting assays and carrying out literature searches for technology selection and onboarding.
  • Strong attention to detail with respect to executing experiments and record-keeping and experience with electronic lab notebook maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary environment and in a highly collaborative fashion.

Preferred Experience (not required):

  • Experience with mouse/ human primary hepatocytes, iPSCs, 3D cell culture
  • Experience with long read sequencing technologies
  • Experience with liquid handling and automated NGS pipelines
  • Understanding of genome engineering technologies

Education and relevant work experience:

  • B.S. with 8+ years or M.S. with 5+ years of relevant experience
