The Team: Flexports’ Global Operations team is the front line team responsible for successfully managing our Customer’s supply chains end to end. To achieve this the Global Operations Team is at the heart of delighting our customers, managing our partners and working closely with our technology partners to drive innovation through process automation. With our focus on developing a global network, our operational teams are strategically located across the world to manage and execute our services and products offered to our customers and partners. Flexport Global Operations raises the bar by using data to manage our customer’s supply chains and identifies opportunities to improve fidelity in planning, responsiveness and overall execution. Job Description: The Sr Director/VP Regional Operations is a business leader role responsible for an array of in-country operations in an identified region fulfilling services across multiple origin-destination pairs. This role has a proven track record of establishing and growing operating teams in these groups of countries, maintaining a high degree of business ethics and compliance. This role, in partnership with its counterparts globally and regionally, is responsible to ensure that we execute our services and products to predefined standards at high quality. This role owns the operations P&L for the region, ensuring that we grow responsibly and continue to eliminate waste from the supply chain. This role is responsible for obsessing about our Customers, Partners and People and embraces technology to delight our customers. This role, on a daily, weekly and monthly basis is responsible for interacting with people managers on the overall health of their teams, interacting with key stakeholders (such as sales, tech and product) to ensure we are focusing on what matters most and lastly overall planning and execution functions to ensure we deliver high quality. This role works very closely with its global and regional counterparts in operations to ensure a seamless transaction.
Key Responsibilities:

  • -  [People Management] Responsible to build, lead and manage, managers of people and individual contributors, delivering high performing teams that delight our customers

  • -  [Operating Model Design] Responsible for design, develop and deploy operating model that allows us to scale globally, which includes, but not limited to the use of partners, service providers, regional control centers and outsourced services

  • -  [Governance and Compliance] Accountable for establishing and maintaining high standards in Safety, Securing and overall compliance, safeguarding Flexport and our customer’s assets

  • -  [Regional Growth and Service Long Term Planning] Strategizes with regional and global sales, product and trade lane management to develop growth strategies for the region

  • -  [P&L responsibility] Accountable to establish and manage to a budget, ensuring responsible growth with the goal of geographic expansion, capability development while lowering costs, improving cash cycles and eliminate revenue/cost leakage

  • -  [Customer Retention] Demonstrating Customer Obsession, fostering relationships with key customers and develop strategies to reduce cost of retention and customer churn

  • -  [Product and Technology deployment] Develops change management processes and feedback loops to Product and Technology teams to ensure we derive the expected ROI on new products, features and services

  • -  [Quality of Operations] Accountable for quality, cost and service metrics in area of responsibility, implementing initiatives to improve and meet goals/expectations.

  • -  [Operational Excellence] Drives a culture of continuous innovation with the goal to improve quality. Works closely with Operational Excellence teams to develop and maintain standard operating procedures globally

  • -  [Talent and Leadership Development] Works with People Impact team to develop leadership and growth plans to retain and attract talent

  • -  [Management and Controls] Develops and leads regular business cadences such as weekly and monthly business reviews, forecasting and annual planning cycles

    Minimum Requirements:

  • -  15+ years in managing a large business and P&L, preferably in cross border industry

  • -  Masters degree in Supply Chain, Business or Finance or equivalent experience

  • -  Proven track record in continuous improvement projects and large scale

    implementations

  • -  Comfortable in managing people remotely across multiple geographies

  • -  Proficiency in speaking and writing English

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • -  10+ years experience in cross border supply chains and logistics and/or freight forwarding

  • -  5+ experience in business development / customer facing roles

  • -  Qualified in lean principles, six sigma or equivalent

  • -  Experience in data analytics and programs such as SQL or equivalent

  • -  Spoken/written language skills for countries in your region

  • -  A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
