Te Tūranga – About the role
As a senior member of the team, you will be working alongside your External Affairs team-mates and supportive agency partners, responsible for leading proactive corporate communications initiatives that drive positive sentiment in media for Foodstuffs and our brands. You’ll also play a key role in providing media, customer issues and crisis management response services for Foodstuffs. We are looking to for a corporate communications specialist to join our team reporting into the Head of Co-operative External Affairs.
The team collaborate, create and publish stories that serve to protect, promote and maintain the reputation of Foodstuffs' corporate and retail brands in Media, Foodstuffs' websites and social channels.
He kōrero mōu - About you
Co-operatives aren’t like corporates, so above all else you’ll need to be up for operating in an ecosystem that’s a bit different to the norm. You’ll need to be especially comfortable spending time consulting with a wide range of stakeholders, including Chief Executives – so you’ll be an excellent influencer and a pragmatic and confident decision maker.
A strategic thinker, superb corporate storyteller and writer, you’ll understand audiences across the mix of PR mediums, you’ll know what engages them and what needs to be done to capture their time and attention. You’ll likely have a successful track record in corporate public relations, or similar, ideally within the FMCG and/or retail landscape.
An uber collaborator and influencer, familiar with the NZ news and features landscape, you’ll be extremely comfortable pitching to journalists and publishers to tell positive stories and you’ll also have the skills and tenacity to generate suitable reactive responses to media that serve to protect our reputation.
You’ll be flexible, providing 1st on call cover at weekends and public holidays (this responsibility is shared between the five team members) and we’ll need you to be there when it’s ‘all hands on deck’ during crisis response.
