Girls Who Code (GWC) is seeking a full-time Manager, Programmatic Events to drive planning and execution of engagements for participants and supporters of our programs. The Programmatic Events Manager will report to the Director of Program Implementation and collaborate with the K-12, Workforce, and Development Teams to ensure all event attendees and presenters receive a high-quality experience. A successful candidate will have a strong track record in event management, particularly in an academic or school-based setting, and a passion to further Girls Who Code’s mission to empower young women to pursue Computer Science.

Responsibilities include:

Strategic Events Planning

  • Lead the planning and execution of virtual and in-person events for our K-12 and Workforce Programs Teams, including field trips, panel discussions, speaker series, workshops, and graduation events
  • Serve as primary project manager and engage internal staff in collaboration and event support
  • Work with K-12, Workforce, and Development teams to scope out partner benefits and design events that meet both the needs of partners and the organization
  • Build annual events roadmap and timeline to ensure fuller transparency of events schedule and to minimize any gaps with programming
  • Support with budget creation and and expense tracking for all events
  • Pitch new events based on criteria including: stakeholder feedback, exposure to Computer Science (CS) content and connections, and increased brand awareness for the organization
  • Events Operations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for event logistics, including day-of support 
  • Create guides and other resources to support partners, students, and other stakeholders in the planning or preparation of their event
  • Plan and execute all events rehearsals and tech checks to ensure partners and speakers are prepared for event
  • Create key messaging to provide additional event details to students, volunteers, and other key stakeholders
  • Create run of show and other production materials that support successful GWC and partner-branded events
  • Registration and Attendance Oversight

  • Collaborate with members of Marketing and Communication, Development, K-12, and Workforce Programs Teams to plan social media and other communications to increase event awareness and attendance
  • Monitor RSVPs and implement triage strategies to increase event registrations and turnout
  • Support execution of other strategies to meet the increased demand for a dynamic and engaging events for GWC participants and partners
  • Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in event planning, operations, and project management; direct experience working with youth and school systems strongly preferred
  • Proven experience as an events logistics manager, emcee, and/or day-of coordinator
  • Familiarity with platforms for event registration and virtual conferences (e.g. Eventbrite, Hopin, Zoom)
  • Strong customer-service orientation
  • Highly skilled in project management; knowledge of project management platforms (e.g. Trello, Asana, Basecamp) a plus
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Salesforce required 
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to comfortably adapt and problem-solve in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Computer Science experience is not required
