The platform team at Glovo thrives on a strong internal customer focus and data-informed experimentation to improve resilience, reliability, and performance. You'll join us in enabling the future of deployments at Glovo.

Be a part of a team where you will:

  • Work on database reliability, automation and performance as we grow our platform.
  • Provide insight and analysis into the behavior of databases and caching infrastructure.
  • Manage and evolve observability and documentation used by other engineering teams..
  • Participate in Glovo's transition from monolithic architecture to microservices.
  • Analyze complex software systems and collaborate with other teams to improve the overall design, reliability and scalability.
  • Provide database expertise to engineering teams (for example through reviews of database migrations, queries and performance optimizations).
  • Automate all the things. Develop automation tools for efficient, noiseless alerting, toil and technical debt.
  • Participate in incident management, diagnosis and mitigation to identify gaps in tooling and monitoring.
  • Work with peer SREs to migrate and to roll out changes to our production environment

You have:

  • Experience running relational databases in large production systems. Preferably MySQL.
  • Experience managing and scaling caching layers. Preferably Redis.
  • Strong understanding of SQL in the context of application performance and how to guide engineers to arrive at the optimal solution.
  • Written code to capture database performance, and create tools and dashboards to provide actionable insight into that data.
  • Excel at diagnosing and resolving performance problems.
  • Experience operating distributed systems in production - scaling, tuning, performance and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience improving and tuning ORMs.
  • Defined efficient data backups strategies and disaster recovery plans.
  • Experience with message brokers (Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Experience with MySQL clustering (Vitess).
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (ElasticSearch, DynamoDB, Cassandra)
