At Glovo, we are expanding our engineering team significantly as we aim to make everything accessible to anyone, anywhere. We will be creating new teams, new technologies and taking our engineering capabilities to the next level. To help us with this mission, we are looking for a strong Engineering Manager for the Customer Self-Service team that will help provide leadership and drive the delivery of projects within the team.
 
This is a senior, high impact position as you will be responsible for a key area aiming to deliver on the priorities and projects while growing your team and their capabilities. Your priority is your team and you will be their backbone of support. We don’t have much hierarchy at Glovo as we want teams to be autonomous and drive their own decision making so you will need to be self-driven yet understand when to reach out for help. You will have strong leadership skills and understand what makes engineers and data scientists tick. You also enjoy seeing your team members grow and helping them achieve their goals and enjoy mentoring and coaching. Coming from an engineering and a data-science background, you will also have the technical chops to design & architect systems that are scalable and maintainable and thrive on seeing good, high-quality deliverables.

Your work-life opportunity:

The Engineering Manager for our Customer Self-Service team will lead a team of engineers building and supporting customer facing solutions that are used by millions of people around the world. You will work across all our platforms making sure that the contact rate (percentage of orders that involve customers contacting support) is going down while customer satisfaction is going up. As the manager of the team, you will also be the support backbone of your team, helping them grow and ensuring that they are motivated by their work and are a high performing team.

Be a part of a team where you will:

  • Manage and grow a cross-functional team of engineers that build and support self-service solutions for our customers
  • Continuously look for opportunities to automate common scenarios and make sure that our solutions are superior and more cost efficient than human interactions
  • Ensure high quality and reliability of all team deliverables
  • Work with other teams to leverage things like risk management or chat-based solutions
  • Ensure that the team has well defined tech and productivity KPIs, is focused on achieving their goals, and delivering on its commitments

You have:

  • Degree in computer science or similar
  • At least 5 years playing an Individual Contributor or Technical Lead role with a track record of impactful projects
  • At least 3 years managing an agile team of engineers with proven ability to grow your team/hire, track its velocity, and keep them motivated
  • Experience working with customer-facing products
  • Proven ability to define clear KPIs and gather the necessary data to back up decisions
  • A deep sense of ownership for what you do with clear, demonstrable experience of proactiveness
  • Ability to understand the impact of changes within an engineering organisation and how best to manage that impact
