YOUR MISSION

As a Mobile Platform Engineer at Glovo, you’ll work on scaling our codebase and tooling to accommodate our growth. Making the release and build processes of our mobile applications rock solid and quick. Building and optimizing our mobile CI pipeline to ensure high-confidence deliveries will be a big part of your job. You’ll work with mobile engineers in other teams and clusters to understand the inside-out of the apps and find out how to improve their performance at build-time and ensure high-confidence deployments.

In the Mobile Platform team, our mission is to help product engineers focus on delivering business value fast while maintaining high code quality, and to build tooling that ensures the Developer Experience at Glovo is second to none.

THE JOURNEY

• Make a positive impact on our engineering culture, encourage knowledge sharing and drive technical discussions within the team
  
  
• Define the high level architecture of the applications and drive its adoption to empower multiple teams of product developers
  
  
• Enable mobile teams to be autonomous
  
  
• Own the shared libraries and SDKs for the mobile apps
  
  
• Work with feature development teams to design sustainable automation systems.
  
  
• Participate in incident management, diagnosis and mitigation
  
  
• Monitor and optimize the performance of mobile apps
  
  
• Contribute to create a fantastic shipping experience for our developers
  
  
• Continuously optimize and automate CI/CD processes to further our goal of rapidly improving developer productivity.
  
  
• Assist mobile developers in easing software development and release.
  
  

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE RIDE

The most important requirement for us to be a successful platform engineer is that you have a supportive mindset. Our work is to enable and empower the product engineers to deliver features, so you need to be passionate about getting the best from others. The rest of the requirements in this list are technical knowledge that will help you to achieve that goal, but the core would be a helping attitude towards others.

• A degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or relevant experience
  
  
• General build and test tool management experience
  
  
• Passionate about building reliable, performant CI infrastructure.
  
  
• Experience with industry standard tools for mobile development, distribution & CI/CD
  
  
• 2 years of platform engineering experience is a plus.
  
  
• Deep understanding and practical experience working with mobile app architectures and project structures
  
  
• Demonstrate experience of driving change within an organization and leading complex technical projects
  
  
• We use Github, Github Actions, Gradle, Fastlane, Play Store console, Firebase, Datadog, Terraform, Bugsnag
  
  
• Demonstrable skills for configuring, running, and gathering metrics from CI test pipelines executing mobile automation using tools such as XCTest, Espresso, JUnit.
  
  
• Good knowledge of low-level details about iOS/Android runtimes, SDKs, and their build-time configuration.
  
  
• Experience with code signing mobile applications for iOS is a plus..
