We are looking for a talented and passionate Data Platform Staff Engineer to join the Data Platform team in our Barcelona HQ.
Glovo has a culture of data-driven decision-making, and demands data that is timely, accurate, and actionable. We grow really fast collecting Terabytes of data from tens of data sources and providing interfaces for our internal customers to access and query the data hundreds of thousands of times per day.
YOUR WORK-LIFE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Staff Data Platform Engineer you will be designing, building and constantly improving Glovo’s reliable and scalable Data Platform using technologies like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kafka, Spark, Python and many more. Joining us your work will have an immediate influence on the shape of data consumed by teams across Glovo including Operations, Analysts, Data Scientists and Business Users.
Your depth of experience and past achievements will speak for itself having helped deliver on data platform wide projects that have had significant impact. You have developed tools and defined standards which have helped different data teams achieve efficiency while providing mentoring and leadership where necessary. You will be at times working independently and at other times within a team to achieve a given goal. You are known in the engineering community having worked on well known projects or because of your public speaking experiences. Others respect you and you are a sought out Engineer because of your expertise and depth of knowledge. This is a high impact position within Glovo engineering as you will be defining the way for Glovo engineering into the long term.
Be a part of a team where you will:
- Design, implement and keep improving Glovo Data Platform through iterative architectural and technology techniques
- Participate in the development of Glovo’s Data Mesh initiative using the best architectural practices.
- Play a pivotal role in the process of moving towards microservices and event-driven architecture
- Mentor & share technical expertise with engineers, data scientists, BI analysts and other technology colleagues
- Be on top of new technologies and industry trends
You have:
- 10+ years of software/data engineering experience
- 7+ years of professional experience designing big and scalable cloud data platforms - Data Streaming, Data Lake/Mesh, Data Warehouse
- 5+ years of designing and delivering solutions in Amazon Web Services (or Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience in implementing data protection measures to protect consumers’ personal data and privacy against data loss or exposure
- Expertise in Python, Spark, SQL, Airflow, ETLs, APIs
- Knowledge in the areas of data quality, observability, cataloging and discovery
- A general understanding of data compliance laws (such as GDPR)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes
