To help us along this path, we are seeking experienced, talented software engineers and leaders that can help us deliver simple solutions to complex engineering challenges across all our platforms. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be working closely with senior Engineering leaders and the wider engineering team to enable further scalability of our platforms and help us solve technically challenging problems. 
 
Your depth of experience and past achievements will speak for itself having helped deliver on engineering wide projects that have had significant impact in engineering orgs. The projects you have led will have had consequential ROI and impact to the business. You should be well versed with helping reduce technical debt for the engineering org & you will have demonstrable experience of developing systems/tools. Experience of defining standards which have helped engineering teams achieve efficiency while providing strong, demonstrable mentoring and leadership is also something we look for. You will be at times, working independently and at other times, within a team to achieve a given goal and are known in the engineering community having worked on well known projects and/or because of your public speaking experiences.
 
Others respect you and you are a sought out engineer because of your expertise and depth of knowledge. This is a high impact position within Glovo engineering as you will be defining the way for Glovo engineering in the long term.

Be a part of a team where you will:

  • Identify scalability and delivery issues before they become a problem and help devise and implement solutions
  • Work closely with the teams to ensure design and delivery of complex projects while providing mentorship and leadership
  • Develop tooling and infrastructure for your domain/platform as well as engineering-wide solutions to improve efficiency
  • Represent Glovo in the engineering community as an ambassador
  • Be an engineering leader, helping raise the engineering bar for your platform and growing the engineering team
  • Mentor & share technical expertise with software engineers, and other technology colleagues 
  • Be on top of new technologies and industry trends

You have:

  • A degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or relevant experience
  • A solid experience in a software engineering role
  • Demonstrated experience in enabling global scalability or innovation within a platform that has helped drive efficiency, scalability or delivery of a significantly complex software system that spans multiple domains/platforms
  • Deep knowledge and experience in a given domain/platform (Backend, mobile, frontend, infrastructure and automation)
  • Ability to design elegant solutions for technically challenging problems
  • Great communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes 
  • Experience with cloud technologies: Google, AWS, etc.
  • Very Good English
