Greenhouse is hiring a Director of Engineering. Greenhouse's fast growth and focus on continuous improvement means that you'll see something new every week. Our Directors of Engineering are strategic forces, overseeing a domain with multiple teams of product engineers. Alongside their Engineering Manager direct reports they will work on growing the teams in their domains, running planning sessions, and mentoring.

The Director of Engineering role will be responsible for overseeing our Ecosystem domain within the Greenhouse Recruiting product. Our Ecosystem consists of all the data flowing into and out of the platform (e.g. via APIs) which serve our partners, customers and 3rd party system integrators. You will work closely with our customer facing teams to create a world class Ecosystem for Greenhouse Recruiting customers.

What you'll do

  • Lead a team of 3 Engineering Managers and a domain consisting of 15-20 engineers
  • Oversee and deploy a core set of features in our globally utilized products
  • Create an organizational dynamic that is inclusive, open-minded, respectful, and effective
  • Participate in system design and influence technical strategy conversations across the engineering team
  • Collaborate on key initiatives with cross-departmental partners and leadership peers
  • Create and implement mission-critical OKRs that push our department forward 

You should have

  • Experience in building and retaining an inclusive distributed engineering team and culture
  • Experience managing and growing other people managers
  • Prior experience in developing a complex, multi-tenant web application
  • Experience with modern front-end technologies and best practices
  • A deep understanding of modern web applications and API design; experience with issues related to scale, security, availability, deployment, and server maintenance
  • Experience with development best practices, including continuous integration, automated testing, source control, and code reviews
  • An understanding of AWS or other cloud infrastructures
