Do you find the growing amount of global crypto regulations worldwide both slightly nauseating yet also extremely fascinating? Do you enjoy coming up with creative solutions to regulatory uncertainty? In this role, you will help Kraken make decisions on how to navigate the increasingly complex global regulatory landscape. You will work closely with the Strategy, Finance, Legal, Engineering and Product teams, as well as in-country leadership and compliance personnel, to: (1) understand how new laws, regulations, and rules impact Kraken’s business model worldwide; (2) develop regulatory strategies that minimise costs, risks, and time to market; (3) interact with regulators to enhance Kraken brand reputation; and (4) facilitate Kraken’s fast growth through compliance analysis for all M&As and new product initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in preparation for licensing applications, regulatory inquiry responses, and consultation opportunities.
  • Prepare licensing application on behalf of Kraken in conjunction with the necessary lines of business.
  • Conduct necessary compliance due diligence and risk assessments on target companies in mergers and acquisitions. 
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders across Kraken to develop detailed integration plans and milestones.
  • Identify the most appropriate way and jurisdiction to launch new products, with end-to-end process and deliverables.
  • Assist with facilitating the necessary compliance integrations related to all strategic business initiatives, Kraken subsidiaries, as well other compliance program maintenance requirements. 
  • Develop and implement methodology to monitor developments in global regulatory frameworks that impact Kraken’s operations worldwide.
  • Develop and implement methodology to monitor industry competitive landscape as it relates to global regulatory compliance.
  • Produce deliverables identifying regulatory developments and opportunities for Kraken’s engagement with regulators.
  • Build presentations to frame regulatory decisions for internal executives.
  • Produce polished deliverables for external regulatory audiences.
  • Owning and driving key organisational projects from beginning to end.
  • Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree in economics, law, international relations, business administration, finance, or similar field preferred.
  • Prior experience in the financial industry; prior legal experience; experience in M&A integration, consulting or business functions; prior experience with regulatory compliance is a plus.
  • Deep interest in / knowledge of the regulatory landscape as it relates to the crypto industry.
  • Resourceful and inquisitive mindset with an ability to analyse structured and unstructured data from disparate sources and develop conclusions.
  • Trustworthiness and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to take ownership of your work product and consistently deliver results in a face-paced work environment.
  • Strong organisational proficiency.
  • Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Eye for presentation design and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with a high level of context switching in fast-paced, high-growth and in complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Google Sheets) and PowerPoint (Google Slides). Including the ability to perform data analysis.
