Our insurance solutions are evolving and the team is growing, and we are looking for Actuarial Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2021. We can’t wait to meet you!

Responsibilities:

  • Compile, cleanse, and summarize data from massive datasets in preparation for actuarial studies using scripting languages such as SQL, Python, and R
  • Prepare reporting dashboards using SQL and investigate trends. Escalate findings to management and have a direct impact on the business.
  • Apply actuarial skills and training in innovative ways to help price and reserve for Lyft’s usage-based insurance program
  • Support modeling efforts to segment insurance costs at a granular level
  • Build presentation skills by helping draft decks and communicate actuarial findings to key business partners 

Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in an actuarial program (Bachelor’s or Master’s) and must be returning to school after their internship
  • Familiarity with basic probability and financial mathematics concepts
  • Familiarity working with Excel
  • Extraordinary organizational skills and meticulous eye for detail
  • Ability to work independently and work cross-functionally in collaboration with others
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong passion for Lyft and its platform, and in the transportation industry in general
  • Past experience in a leadership role (e.g. sports, clubs, student government, etc.)
  • Proficiency in communications and analytical tools (e.g. Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
  • Nice to Have: Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R
  • Nice to Have: Passed some preliminary exams (ie Exams P and FM)
